Today’s MLB Prop Bet Picks: Weaving Cincy's Right To Score Runs

The Reds left 16 runners on base yesterday, scoring just three runs against the Diamondbacks. We're expecting them to cash a few more of those potential runs today.

Today’s MLB props and picks

Minnesota Twins Team Total Over 4.5 (-115)

Everyone who followed our wall-to-wall coverage of the KBO last season should know at least a little bit about former Doosan Bears ace Chris Flexen. Well, Flexen is now back in the big leagues and looked excellent in his first start of the season, going five scoreless innings against the Giants on April 3.

However, Flexen will have a much tougher task today as he gets the start on the road against the Minnesota Twins.

The Twins are fourth in the majors with an OPS of .809 while ranking fifth with 5.99 runs per game. They were monsters at the plate two years ago, setting the MLB record with 307 homers, and look ready to mash again after a disappointing campaign during the COVID-shortened 2020 season.

Take the Over 4.5 on Minnesota's team total.

Cincinnati Reds Team Total Over 4.5 (-120)

The Reds have been raking so far this season but are coming off an 8-3 loss to the Diamondbacks yesterday. Despite mustering just three runs in that contest, Cincinnati actually looked pretty good at the plate, striking out just four times and picking up 12 hits. The problem was that it left 16 runners on base.

It will be hoping to drive those baserunners in today as the Reds face Arizona and Diamondbacks starter Luke Weaver, who allowed three home runs in his first start of the year.

While you might be able to excuse that poor performance due to the thin air at Coors Field, his numbers last season don't support his cause. The righty went 1-9 in 2020 with a brutal 6.58 ERA and a WHIP of 1.56 across 12 starts.

With the Reds leading the majors in OPS (.952) and runs per game (8.25), take the Over on their team total.

Nationals vs Dodgers First 5 Innings Under 4 (+105)

At 4:10 p.m. ET we get an intriguing battle between the last two World Series winners and two of the greatest pitchers in recent history as the Los Angeles Dodgers host the Washington Nationals.

Three-time Cy Young recipient Clayton Kershaw will take the hill for the Dodgers but the Nats have their own three-time Cy Young winner on the mound in Max Scherzer.

Scherzer is coming off a rough outing in his first start of the season, surrendering four home runs to the Braves. But other than those dingers he allowed only one other hit and didn't walk a single batter while striking out nine across six innings. Expect him to get back to his usual self against a Dodgers team that he has a 2.76 ERA against in 14 career games.

Kershaw was also roughed up in his first outing of the year, albeit at the pitcher's nightmare that is Coors Field. He made his second start of the season on Tuesday and looked much sharper, allowing just one run and fanning eight batters through seven innings against the A's.

Expect these future Hall of Famers to duel and take the first five innings Under.
