The San Diego Padres get a boost to their rotation with Yu Darvish set to make his season debut tonight against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

However, Darvish will get thrown into the fire against the Diamondbacks, who have hit righties hard all season long. That's why my Diamondbacks vs. Padres predictions expect Corbin Carroll to have a big night at the plate.

My MLB picks bring you a player prop for Carroll, with first pitch at PETCO Park in San Diego set for 9:40 pm ET on Monday, July 7.

Diamondbacks vs Padres prediction

My Diamondbacks vs Padres best bet: Corbin Carroll Over 1.5 total bases (+112 at Caesars)

Corbin Carroll earned his second All-Star selection of his young career thanks to a solid first half for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The 24-year-old outfielder has done it all in 2025. He's slugged 20 home runs, driven in 44, and stolen 10 bases. He’s also crushed right-handed pitching to the tune of a .953 OPS and 17 of those 20 homers.

He’s the last guy Yu Darvish wants to see in his season debut. An elbow injury has kept the San Diego Padres right-hander out to this point, and he gets a tough matchup in his return, having to go up against an Arizona team that leads MLB in OPS vs. right-handed pitching this season.

Carroll, in particular, has been a thorn in Darvish’s side. The Arizona outfielder is an impressive 7-for-13 with a double and two dingers in his career vs. the San Diego starter. That’s good for a .538 average and a 1.702 OPS.

Carroll has gone Over 1.5 total bases five times in his last 10 games. And even with this great matchup, we're getting plus money for him to go Over again. That’s too good a deal to pass up.

Ketel Marte 1+ RBI

Fellow Arizona All-Star Ketel Marte also has solid career numbers vs. Darvish. Marte has gone 11-for-38 with four extra-base hits. That’s a .289 average and an .833 OPS.

Marte enters this game with a .293 average and a .982 OPS and has driven in at least one run in nine of his last 16 games. Add an RBI for Marte to this SGP.

Countering Darvish is Zac Gallen. While the Diamondbacks starter hasn’t had his best stuff this season but he’s coming off one of his best starts of the season, holding the Giants to one run on five hits while striking out 10 over seven innings.

I have more confidence in Gallen than Darvish at this point, so there's some value in Arizona as underdogs tonight.
