The Toronto Blue Jays continue their series in Houston on Tuesday, sending Trey Yesavage to the mound against Astros right-hander Hayden Wesneski.

After a strong Shane Bieber outing, I’m going back to a pitcher prop, with Yesavage’s knack for working deep leading my card.

Read on for my Blue Jays vs. Astros predictions and MLB picks for this Tuesday, Aug. 4 matchup.

Blue Jays vs Astros predictions

Blue Jays vs Astros best bet: Trey Yesavage Over 17.5 outs (-110)

After Shane Bieber pitched well against the Houston Astros, I’m following up with another pitcher prop. Trey Yesavage hasn’t been consistent with his strikeout totals, but he has a real knack for working deep into games.

He handled Houston back on June 24, allowing just one run over 5 2/3 innings and grinding out 17 outs even while issuing five walks.

He's been much sharper with his command since, which should help him pile up outs again. I wouldn’t play any number higher than 17.5, and I’d go until -120.

Blue Jays vs Astros same-game parlay (SGP)

For the SGP, I’m building around Yesavage and the Jays as a live underdog.

I’ll take the Toronto Blue Jays moneyline at plus money, with Yesavage the steadier arm against a thin Houston rotation piece in Hayden Wesneski.

I’ll pair it with Yesavage Over 5.5 strikeouts and Kazuma Okamoto Over 0.5 hits, leaning on the same bat I like to do damage in the short Houston park.

  • Trey Yesavage Over 5.5 strikeouts

Blue Jays vs Astros home run pick: Kazuma Okamoto (+350)

Those short Crawford Boxes sit just 315 feet away at Daikin Park, and Kazuma Okamoto’s pull-happy profile gives him the best shot on the team to go yard. Okamoto has been hot lately, too, slugging .519 with a homer and three extra-base hits over his last seven games.

I especially like the matchup because Okamoto has seen more sweepers than anyone on the roster. Wesneski throws his sweeping curve 33% of the time, just like Cristian Javier last night, and Okamoto handles that pitch better than any Blue Jay, slugging .400 against it with a +2 run value. I like his home run prop until +325.

Blue Jays vs Astros trend

Daikin Park has the second-shallowest left-field fence in the Majors (next to Fenway Park), which plays into Kazuma Okamoto’s pull-side power. Find more MLB betting trends for Blue Jays vs. Astros.
