The Toronto Blue Jays are going to need to bring their hitting shoes to Coors Field as they open a three-game set against the Colorado Rockies on Monday, August 4.

Despite having just 30 wins this season, the Rockies can hit a bit, particularly at home, which means the Jays' big bats will have to step up. That has my Blue Jays predictions and MLB picks locked in on Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who I like to rebound after a tough weekend.

Blue Jays predictions for August 4

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Vladito brings hit parade to altitude

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 Hits (+110 at BetVictor)

It was a rough weekend for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays as they dropped two out of three to the Kansas City Royals, where Vladdy collected just one hit.

But Vladdy & Co. will need to be at their best this week. Yes, the Colorado Rockies have struggled all season, but they have been hitting the ball very well since the All-Star break. Luckily, they can’t pitch a lick.

The Rockies are dead last in ERA, opponent batting average, and strikeout rate, and that won’t change a whole lot as they hand the ball to Tanner Gordon for the opener on Monday night.

The 27-year-old right-hander is making just his sixth start of the season and his third since getting called back up to the Bigs at the end of July. He’s also coming off surrendering seven runs (six earned) on eight hits in three innings against the Cleveland Guardians.

Gordon’s 4.90 expected ERA and .300 opponent batting average both rank in the Bottom 15% among MLB pitchers.

While Vladdy is coming off a tough weekend, he still ranks in the 100th percentile in expected batting average and the 91st in expected slugging. And before this mini-slump, he had eight multi-hit games in his previous 12.

Vladdy’s had plenty of success at Coors Field in his career - .320/.414/.680 with two home runs in 25 at-bats - and I like him to get back and get a couple of knocks tonight.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 hits

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 0.5 RBI

Eric Lauer Over 4.5 strikeouts

Let’s add Guerrero to drive to this same-game parlay as well. The total sits at a massive 11.5, so Vladdy, who has 12 RBIs since the All-Star break, to get an RBI is a good bet.

And let’s close this same-game parlay out with Eric Lauer to get Over 4.5 strikeouts. The lefty has been impressive for the Blue Jays since earning a permanent spot in the rotation two months ago, pitching to a 3.03 expected ERA.

He’s also got a 25.9% strikeout rate, which is in the Top 25% among MLB pitchers. Colorado has the fourth-highest K-rate vs left-handed pitching this season.
