KBO Picks

LG Twins vs NC Dinos (+100, 9)

Probable Pitchers: Casey Kelly (Twins) vs Young-Gyu Kim (Dinos)

The NC Dinos extended their winning streak to four games by thumping the LG Twins 13-5 on Friday. But the Twins got a boost from mother nature, as they’ll now hand the ball to import starter Casey Kelly.

The 30-year-old right hander, who made 12 MLB starts over seven pro seasons spent mostly in the minors, is beginning his second KBO campaign and is looking for an encore performance. Kelly pitched to an outstanding 2.55 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in his first season with the Twins. While the Dinos have already hit eight long balls, they are just middle of the road in batting average and Kelly allowed just seven home runs all of last season.

Pitching has fueled the Dinos’ hot start. They lead the KBO in ERA and next up Young-Gyu Kim. The 20-year-old lefty is in just his second KBO season, and hopes to build off his first year, particularly his final start. In that one, Kim faced this same Twins squad and pitched a complete-game shutout where he allowed seven hits and no walks, while striking out eight.

This one should be low scoring early.

Pick: Under 5.0 First 5 Innings (-110)

SK Wyverns vs Lotte Giants (-110, 9.5)

Probable Pitchers: Tae-Hoon Kim (Wyverns) vs Dan Straily (Giants)

As mentioned, the Lotte Giants are the KBO’s other undefeated team and have started the season on fire at the dish, leading the league in batting average and home runs. And now, they’ll also benefit from the rain delay as they’ll hand the ball to import starter Dan Straily for Game 2 of this series.

Straily is a former Major Leaguer who put up some solid seasons in Cincinnati and Miami before falling off a cliff in Baltimore. But we can forgive him for that, Baltimore did that to everyone it seems. And the right-hander got his KBO career off to a solid start, allowing just two runs on three hits in 5.2 innings in the Giants season opening win against the KT Wiz.

The Wyverns are sticking with Tae-Hoon Kim. The veteran left hander had 3.88 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP as a reliever last season, but hasn’t made a start since 2018.

We love the price we’re getting with hot home team and the better starter. The streak continues!

Pick: Lotte Giants (-110)

KT Wiz vs Doosan Bears (-190, 9.5)

Probable Pitchers: Min Kim (Wiz) vs Young-Chan Lee (Bears)

It’s been an uneven start to the season for the defending Korean Series champion Doosan Bears, going 2-2 to start the season, including dropping the opener of this series against the KT Wiz 12-3.

Pitching has been the problem to this point for the Bears, ranking eighth in team ERA at 6.17. Luckily, the Wiz are worse at 6.25. The Bears hope to put an end to that by handing the ball to reliable veteran Yong-Chan Lee. The right hander has a 3.85 ERA since becoming a full-time starter in 2018.

The Wiz counter with youngster Min Kim. Last season was the first as a full-time starter for 21-year-old. He ended the year with a 4.96 ERA and a 1.59 WHIP. And in three starts against the Bears Kim had a 4.50 ERA.

We like the Bears to get back on track in this one and are taking the home team by a couple of runs.

Pick: Doosan Bears -1.5 (+110)

KBO Betting Record: 2-1, +1.20 units
