A wild Week 3 in the NFL reshaped the Super Bowl odds market coming out of the Lions' win over the Ravens on Monday.
Key Takeaways
- One sportsbook is glad to see the Colts, Chargers, and Bucs at 3-0.
- The Bills are firmly ahead of the Ravens as Super Bowl favorites.
- Josh Allen and Jahmyr Gibbs are among shake-ups in award markets.
Not only did Baltimore fall out of the co-favorite spot with the Bills to win the Super Bowl at ESPN BET, but a trio of unexpected 3-0 teams climbed the ladder, a positive sign for BetMGM.
“After three weeks, there are a few surprise teams that are undefeated, including the Colts, Chargers, and Buccaneers,” BetMGM senior trading manager Christian Cipollini said. “None of them rank in the top 10 of most-bet (money) to win the Super Bowl. Any of these teams winning it all would be a good outcome for the sportsbook.”

Moving up
The Colts are definitely the biggest surprise, going 3-0 for the first time since 2009. After adding Daniel Jones at quarterback this offseason, they’ve begun the year with wins over the Dolphins, Broncos, and Titans.
That’s lifted their odds to win the Super Bowl from +10,000 before the season to +3,500 after Week 3. Less than 1% of the tickets and 0.5% of the futures market’s handle at BetMGM are on Indianapolis.
Of the three teams, the Chargers might be the least surprising. Still, their odds have shortened from +2,800 in the preseason to +1,500, seventh on BetMGM’s list. Despite wins over the Chiefs, Raiders, and Broncos, Los Angeles is getting just the 17th-most bets to win the Super Bowl and 2.4% of the money.
Tampa Bay hasn’t been 3-0 since 2005, and they now have odds of +2,200 to win the Super Bowl, a lesser change than the other two teams from the preseason number of +3,000. Less than 2% of the tickets and just 1% of the handle are on the Bucs at BetMGM.
Standing alone
After the Ravens lost 38-30 on Monday, ESPN BET dropped Baltimore to +550 and made Buffalo the +450 favorite after the two teams shared first in the market for the first couple of weeks.

BetMGM made a similar change, shortening the Bills from +500 to +425 to lead the Super Bowl odds, with the Ravens second at +550. The Bills have the highest handle at 13.5% and most tickets at 10.7%, but the three biggest liabilities for BetMGM are the Raiders (1-2), Giants (0-3), and Seahawks (2-1).
Other changes
The Lions (2-1) received a bump at ESPN BET, moving up to fifth and ahead of the Chiefs with odds of +1,100 to win the Super Bowl coming off the impressive road win. They were +1,400 on Monday morning.
The Packers made a big move last week at BetMGM, going from +2,000 to +650, but they fell back to +750 after they lost on a last-second field goal to the Browns in Week 3. However, they’re tied for third with the Eagles after being a spot ahead of Philadelphia last week.
Notable awards shake-ups
Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen pulled ahead of Ravens QB Lamar Jackson this week in BetMGM’s MVP market. The two stars were tied at +325 last week, but Allen is now the lone favorite at +250, with Jackson at +300.
ESPN BET reported that Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson leaped Browns pass-rusher Myles Garrett for the second-best odds at +550 for Defensive Player of the Year. Green Bay’s Micah Parsons leads that market at +225.
Detroit running back Jahmyr Gibbs saw his odds shortened in ESPN BET’s Offensive Player of the Year award from +2,000 entering the weekend to +1,200 after Monday night’s two-touchdown performance.
Bucs receiver Emeka Egbuka is a +350 favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year at BetMGM after opening at +2,000.
