The NFL’s Week 6 Sunday proved to be a back-and-forth between bettors and sportsbooks, with Caesars Sportsbook claiming a small victory before the Sunday night game.
Key Takeaways
- Favorites went 7-5 against the spread and 11-1 overall on Sunday.
- A massive majority of Circa Survivor entries made it through.
- The Steelers, Patriots, Raiders, and Seahawks were good for bettors.
Favorites were 7-5 against the spread during three Sunday windows, including an early game between the Broncos and Jets in London that resulted in a low-scoring New York cover as a touchdown underdog in a 13-11 Denver victory.
The Broncos were part of a large number of moneyline favorites that ruled the day, helping parlay bettors behind an 11-1 overall mark. That helped nearly 95% of the remaining Circa Survivor Contest entries stay alive as the top six most-picked teams won.

The Cowboys were the only favorite to fail to win outright, as the Panthers pulled off the upset with +140 odds at BetMGM.
“This started the day with a win for the book, given that it was the Jets hanging on in a low-scoring game,” said Joey Feazel, Caesars Sportsbook’s head of football. “The (early) slate was a split with the bettors, with the Cowboys-Panthers game being our biggest decision. The (late) slate was also split, with the Raiders going the bettor’s way and the Bengals covering going the book’s way.”
Going the bettors’ way
Bettors enjoyed Pittsburgh’s 23-9 victory over Cleveland. The Steelers (-6) were the most-bet team by tickets at BetMGM and fifth in handle. The Patriots (-3.5) were also a top-five team by tickets, and they eased to a 25-19 victory over the Saints.
Caesars also reported that the Raiders over the Titans and the Seahawks over the Jaguars were also big wins for bettors.
The public drew an odd line, however, in the biggest game of the day. Sunday night’s Lions-Chiefs game was a weird one for BetMGM. The Lions were the third most-bet team in tickets at +2.5, but Kansas City had the most money of any team that played Sunday, allowing bettors to easily cash with a 30-17 victory over Detroit.
Caesars booked and paid out on a $275,000 bet on the Raiders -3.5 and a $110,000 wager on the Chiefs spread. The book got hit even harder on a $250K parlay on Kansas City -2.5 and the under, which barely landed for a massive payout.
Booking wins
Caesars said it did well on the Bengals (+14), only losing by nine points at Green Bay. The Cardinals nearly pulled off the upset of the Colts, who rallied late. Still, Arizona got out of Indianapolis with the cover as an +8.5 underdog that went the book’s way.
The sportsbook said Tampa Bay’s 30-19 victory over the 49ers was a “minimal decision.” The Bucs had more than 65% of both the tickets and handle at BetMGM.
BetMGM cleaned up on the Panthers’ 30-27 victory. Dallas was the second most-bet team by tickets and fourth by handle as 75% of the bets and 65% of the money backed the Cowboys. Carolina wasn’t in the operator’s top five moneyline underdogs and had less than 25% of the handle in the outright winner market.
The most-bet total was Lions-Chiefs over, so BetMGM took that win as well.
MNF preview
Another double dip on Monday night gives bettors plenty of options. The Bills kick off the evening as 4-point favorites at Atlanta, which a bettor took for $110K at Caesars. Buffalo was the most-bet team this week at BetMGM by handle, and the Bills are getting 81% of the tickets in Bills vs. Falcons predictions. The over 50.5 is getting more than 60% of the tickets, but just 51% of the handle.
In the later contest, the Commanders are a 5.5-point favorite over the Bears, who are getting 39% of the wagers and 44% of the money at BetMGM. The over 50.5 is getting 60% of the tickets and 72% of the handle.
On the moneyline, the Bills have seen nearly 90% of the handle at DraftKings, but the underdog Bears have taken 46% of the Bears vs. Commanders predictions money in the second game.
Atlanta receiver Drake London’s over 5.5 receptions is the most-bet player prop in the first game at BetMGM, while Washington running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt’s over 68.5 rushing yards leads the way in the later contest. He’s also the most-bet first touchdown scorer in that game’s market at +625. Buffalo RB James Cook (-175) and Chicago WR Rome Odunze (+14) are the most-bet anytime touchdown scorers for their respective games.
