Following the Los Angeles Rams’ trade acquisition of two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett, FanDuel Sportsbook published Rams Specials in its NFL betting menu.

The Rams were already favored to win Super Bowl LXI, but adding Garrett put them into “superteam” territory.

Key Takeaways

  • The Rams finished as NFC runners-up last season.

  • Garrett and Puka Nacua are among the favorites in the DPOY and OPOY betting markets.

  • Recent preseason Super Bowl odds haven’t been as lopsided as they are this year.

Garrett is coming off a season in which he recorded more sacks in a single season (23) than any player in NFL history. His dominant performances helped him win the second DPOY trophy of his career in his ninth, and now, final, season with the Cleveland Browns.

The burly defensive end will take his DPOY trophy to the West Coast, where he will team up with reigning league MVP Matthew Stafford and an all-star cast of players. Other standouts include reigning first-team All-Pro and receptions leader, Puka Nacua, receiving touchdown leader Davante Adams, and newly acquired two-time All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie, among others. That’s not to mention head coach Sean McVay, widely considered the best mind in the sport.

FanDuel’s Super Bowl odds have the Rams as the clear-cut favorite at +550 (15.4% implied chance). The next-closest teams, the defending-champion Seattle Seahawks, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens, are only +1100 (8.3% chance), meaning the Rams are roughly twice as likely to win the Super Bowl as anyone else.

The Rams Specials betting menu is a further testament to LA’s expected dominance. Odds are available for individual player performances and award probabilities, including the new arrival, Garrett.

All of these odds are available and current on FanDuel at the time of writing:

  • Garrett to record 20+ sacks (+125)
  • Garrett to record a team-record 20.75+ sacks (+180)
  • Garrett to record an NFL-record 23.25+ sacks (+390)
  • Garrett to record 5+ sacks in one game (+800)
  • Garrett to record 20+ sacks and Rams to win the Super Bowl (+1300)
  • Garrett to record 0.5+ sacks in every regular-season game (+5500)

Can Garrett, Puka win DPOY & OPOY?

Garrett has only played on two winning teams in his nine-year career. The Rams, who have a league-leading projected 11.5 win total, are almost certain to make that a third.

Unlike his previous seasons in the NFL, there’s no guarantee that he will be the star of his team. Stafford, Nacua, and others are coming off an excellent season and will all vie for the spotlight.

While Stafford is the reigning MVP and sits third in pre-season NFL MVP odds, FanDuel is offering +5500 odds for Garrett and Nacua to win the Defensive and Offensive Player of the Year trophies, respectively. Those odds translate to a 1.8% implied probability.

Although this is the first time that the DPOY and MVP will begin the season on the same team, there are two instances in which the OPOY and DPOY awards went to teammates.

The 2003 Baltimore Ravens were responsible for one of those years. Running back Jamal Lewis (2,066 yards, 14 TDs) won OPOY, and legendary LB Ray Lewis (161 tackles, 6 INTs, 2 FF) won DPOY.

The other time, fittingly, involved the 2017 Rams. Todd Gurley ran for 1,305 yards and 13 TDs and had 788 yards and six TDs receiving to win his award, and DT Aaron Donald had 11 sacks and five forced fumbles to secure his.

Rams futures odds

The Rams’ sheer dominance in futures betting markets is uncommon. Although the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots had shorter preseason odds than +550, according to Sports Odds History, there was at least one other team with odds shorter than +1000.

There are 99 days until the Rams begin their 2026 NFL season against the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia. FanDuel has the Rams as a -3.5 favorite.

Although odds have not been published for every week, the Rams’ toughest game on the schedule would seemingly be on the road against the Seahawks on Christmas Day. Odds for that game are available and show the Rams are -1.5 favorites.
