The American Express is the second stop of the PGA Tour season and kicks off the California Swing with a strong field set to tee it up this week.

With reigning PGA Tour Play of the Year and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler a short +330 betting favorite in The American Express odds, there are plenty of quality players trading at long prices to target in this week's set of sleeper golf picks.

American Express sleeper predictions

Sleeper pick to win: Harry Hall
+4500 at Fanatics

The season started right for Harry Hall with a T6 at the Sony Open, and it was also his 13th Top-25 finish across his past 16 worldwide events.

He’s becoming a beacon of consistency and has a win on his resume. So, with four prior trips to this event, I’m anticipating him staying hot after finishing the 2025 season ranked third in birdie-or-better percentage and 17th in Par-5 scoring.

Sleeper pick to win: Davis Thompson
+6000 at Fanatics

Davis Thompson finished solo second in this event in 2023, and his game is trending back in the right direction with a quartet of Top 25s across his past five tournaments.

The PGA Tour winner ranked above average in both birdie-or-better percentage and Par-5 scoring in consecutive seasons, and Thompson ranks 19th in this field in true strokes gained tee-to-green across his past 25 events, too.

Sleeper pick to win: Pierceson Coody
+7000 at Fanatics

The first win for Pierceson Coody is coming sooner than later, and he started the season strong with a T13 at the Sony Open while gaining true strokes across the board.

Coody also finished fourth in birdie-or-better percentage and paced the PGA Tour in Par-5 scoring average last season, and his game was also flashing while playing the weekend in all six events with four Top 25s, which included a T3 at the Utah Championship in October.
