TOURNAMENT: 102-66-5 (BIG PLAY: 37-20-5)
FUTURES: 4-1
Another fantastic day and today is the last day of June which means little other than another day to make money. The tournament has been incredible so far and even in our losses I feel a lot of times we still have a chance. Had the Moroccans been able to net another even in extra time it would have been a sublime day. As it stands, it was still rather sensational and some of those wins were worthy of dancing :).
Today's games are a bit more one-sided than those played yesterday, at least I feel as though they are. Not going to overreach or get too overconfident, I'm going to stick with what has worked. If we lose, we lose but at least I am comfortable with the play and can fully back it.
The first game today pits the Ivory Coast, who everyone thinks is some sort of surprise, versus Norway in a game that SHOULD be very lively. I actually think the Ivory Coast have a very strong team and have numerous players who can put the ball in the back of the net. They tend to play lower scoring games and tend to play to their competition which, for us viewers, will be a good thing today as they square of against Erling Haaland and Norway.
Now, I have said this in ALL the sports I post/contribute on, especially the NFL where I am really great, but sitting players ahead of the playoffs has never been my thing. I have seen time and again how the chemistry then changes and the players are a step slower from having been off for some time. Does that happen today with the Norweigans? I'm not sure, but I am wary.
In the FIFA rankings, Norway is ranked #33 and the Ivory Coast are ranked #31. That's pretty darn close to even so I'm not understanding why the Ivory Coast are getting +255 in full time. Not all these games are going extra time by the way and I don't really see this as one the games that will. For that matter, France won't either.
The Ivory Coast barely lost their group, where they were not even really considered, to Germany and did so on points. As you can see, the Germans are pretty darn overrated. But that doesn't mean that the African nation is as well. In fact, they have opened the scoring in all three World Cup matches in 2026 and I'm not sure why they can't do the same again. They have real speed down the wings and Bonny has not scored, but he also hasn't had as many chances as I think he might get today. Ryerson is NOT starting for Norway and has pace that can keep up so I think, at least early on, the game could be a bit open with the Ivory Coast using the wing backs to create opportunities.
I know that the site is going to cut my post just about here so I will finish with the play in my next post...
