I am Romanian, he didn't call him the N word FFS, he literally said "ala negru" which translates to "that black guy", this is ridiculous FFS...

 I have a live feed on TV, nothing yet, it seems the tukish team hasn't decided if they will play the game or not.

 

This is the most stupid hill to die on, the ref didn't say anything racist, when you act like this you discredit the whole fight against racism, giving fuel to actual racists...

Is there a way it could be misconstrued?  I understand not if you are Romanian but for others?

there is a political component to this , Erdogan administration has been labeling Europeans as racists since day 1 in office as he wants Turkey to become a EU member moneybag pretty sure Ankara calls the shots here now since the incident

It seems the game wont be played tonight, the french commentators said the Turkish Sports Minister called and asked the team to not play the game.

It was misconstrued, I think you are right though, because they heard "negru" and thought he said negro, but since when is negro a racist word? But negru = black, no racist connotation is his phrasing.
