germany were/are the kings of counter attack. they have played like that the whole tourney...
you feel like they were attacking because it worked on the past and they scored lots of goals... this time it failed, because spain had a good game plan putting Pedro in for Torres on the right side, not to score but to counter schweinsteiger.. and Iniesta on the left.. that took away the counter attack.
i said like a week ago, that even thou Germany was superior to argentina... argentina had a better shot at beating Spain... its just a bad matchup for germany.

Spain THOROUGHLY outplayed Germany and completely dictated the game. They deserved to win. As far as "level of play" goes... I would actually go on record as stating the Spain dominated Germany.

Germany fails to play their offensive attacking game. They try to play the Spain playing style....slow & defensive. Germany didn't take any outside shot...but just trying to get close to net!
I think Germany will play better against U-team on Sat. They will be in attacking mode again. 3rd place---is just meaningless , and the Germany will be more relax & will score another 4 goals again!!!! Both teams are very offensive, so i think this should be a high scoring game.

Aside from the fact Ozil was fouled inside the penalty area just before half-time and the poor officiating at this WC continued with no penalty awarded, Germany let Spain play its possession game unhindered inside the 1st 6/10ths of the field. They sat back and waited for that possession game to come to them. What did Spain do when germany had possession anywhere on the field? they were almost always immediately at the ball-carrier like a rash.

^^you obviously have no conception of the penalty area - see that little half circle at the top of the screen (the ball rolls over it between the 1 sec & 2 sec mark, when its clearly visible)? thats marked on the edge of the penalty area. Since the players are passed it (the 1 sec mark) before Ozil goes down (2 sec mark) clearly makes a mockery of the suggestion it happened outside the penalty area.
Second, that video begins too late in the sequence, and has the wrong angle. The slowmo replay from behind those players during the actual game itself clearly showed the Spaniard making contact (which is ever so briefly visible at the start of the linked video).
As for the suggestion its a dive, well, anyone wanting to argue it wasnt a real penalty is going to say nothing else, given the Spanish player made contact with Ozil. The circumstances of that contact? Ozil had the ball, and no other immediate defender stood between himself and the goalkeeper. You're an idiot. The defender kicked Oezil in the left Achilles' tendon, which knocked his left foot into his right leg and tripped him up. It has nothing to do with the defender's hand.

Low's tactics had been spot on on previous rounds but for some reason he chose to sit back against the spaniards and let them play their football.
They missed Muller no doubt but they showed spain far too much respect. Despite all this, they could have easily taken the lead from Troos's chance, 3 mins before puyol scored and then who knows what would have happened
