The Obama administration is “handcuffing” agents from enforcing immigration laws and is catering to illegal immigrants to such an extent as to bake birthday cakes for them.
That’s the damning charge made by Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu who
said at a news conference last week in Arizona that the White House is
more preoccupied with optics than protecting the United States,
according to CNS News.
“[T]he leaders who are in charge of protecting our country are more
concerned with the optics of our heroes in the border patrol baking a
cake for a 12-year-old illegal kid from Honduras than protecting our
country from terrorism and from securing the border,” the law
enforcement officer said.
“That’s how screwed up our country is right now.”
Babeu named Customs and Border Protection chief Gil Kerlikowske as an
example of how officials are being overly accommodating to illegal
aliens, pointing to a National Sheriffs Association conference he spoke
at two years ago.
“I came unglued because he started to tell a story about how a
12-year-old boy from Honduras had a birthday, and border patrol agents
baked him a cake,” the sheriff said. “And how wonderful that was that
they baked him a cake. He had never had a birthday and that these border
patrol agents were baking him a cake.”
“This isn’t a lack of compassion for a 12-year-old boy who’s
celebrating his birthday,” Babeu continued. “But my God, this shows how
screwed up our country is and the leaders who are in charge of
protecting our country are more concerned with the optics of our heroes
in the border patrol baking a cake for a 12-year-old illegal kid from
Honduras than protecting our country from terrorism and from securing
