Congress with their lowest and low approval rating because of not trying to governStates with R leadership floundering,Eight years of Bush/Cheney which left this country in shambles and American lives and blood lost in desert sands, the price of which can never be recouped.At one point in recent history they promoted a VP canidate who could not name one newspaper she had read, a pizza mogul with a 9 9 9 plan and last time out a man who you just knew that the only thing he really cared about was big business.I find it laugh out loud funny that the powers that be in the party are shaking in their boots because of Trump,what do they expect when it is them who born and bred his voters.

It's a weird irony that the GOP seems to have purposely conditioned their voting base on how to think (or how not to) and this created a golden opportunity for trump to round up these emotionally based lemmings with firing off talking points

Don't both parties do the same things to bolster their base?

Anyway, what does the general discussion about Trump have to do with ability to govern?

I think I've said this before they both sides do not do exactly the same thing.

I think the point of this is that trump is not fit to govern. His inability to even know how the government works and how a bill is passed was very telling.

But what the topic highlights is that the GOP have rolled out candidates and outcomes that have been Failiures.  I have been saying for quite some time now that the GOP needs to focus more on their solutions and outcomes and less on opposition and throwing prescribed emotional  tantrums.

Their lack of focus shows in their inability to promote and display a viable candidate for president.  And trump is doing nothing more than gathering the shattered pieces from the rumble

Trump is a Rino. So that doesn't make much sense given the title of this thread. No?

Trump has no history of governing so how does anybody know how he will grade?

Ok I agree trump is  RINO.  In fact I am trying to figure out what is conservative about trump beyond his talking points that gets the GOP based all emotional and hot and bothered.

Trump feels very central govt to me vs being states rights or working with the legislative branch.  But seeing that he has no history or experience to show that he actually knows what he is doing perhaps he does not know how to things really work and is just spouting talking points that the ignorant masses want to hear.

I think the point of the thread is that GOP leadership and their choices in strategy have failed so epically that someone like trump is the front runner rather than being seen as a joke and the country being confident in the GOP.

The OP lists some of the events but I think the most important was the pizza guy 999 plan thing that showed a clear vulnerability and inability for the GOP base to show that it had a clue in who they support.

The issue here is not trump per se, but what has happened to the GOP base in terms of how  they think and make decisions on candidates.  


And the path to supporting a candidate with no clue and some pretty clear character issues.  I've heard some people say trump is going to get us all killed because of the international/diplomatic/military ignorance, impulsiveness and emotional decisions.

I feel safe with Cruz or Rubio personally even tho one can say character issues are there.  But a voting for trump is like voting for terrorists, North Korea or Isis in terms of real national security

So my question to you is why do you think the GOP is so supportive of a RINO with no experience or proven track record? Why does some one like trump resonate with current GOPs as the person that best represents their values, character and how they think?

Because I think there was a time that conservatives had a clear identity and set of values and either conservative values no longer apply or the base is ignorant to them and after years of Fox News and taking heads, their attention is caught on the next shiny object

This is where you're not getting it.

Trump is not getting support from the true conservatives. IE Romney, Karl Rove, Beck etc.

What is happening right now is unprecedented and clearly an anomaly.

Experience is a fickle thing. Barry O had little experience, and a history of voting 'present' in many of his opportunities to pick a side. Yet you seem to be far more compassionate towards him in your so called criticism.

Trump is frustrating many on the conservative side even myself as mentioned. I do think he will get thinge done, I just don't like his character/personality for the leader of the free world.

Trump is not getting support from the neo-Con establishment.  I get that.

What is happening now is a product of the good choices in strategy and identity or lack there of.  I think rather than saying luck or an anomoly,  I am looking for you to give logical and realistic reasoning for what is happening.   I think it is a difference in mindset between personal responsibility and accountability vs luck/anomoly.

Obama was less experienced than Hillary but at the same time more experienced than trump. And this is reality with out your emotional inferences you try to put.  I think that is another diffeence between you and me.

My question to you is how well trump get things done?  Everything sounds like it's him and executive central govt.  I don't hear states rights,  I don't hear legislative branch.  He doesn't even know how a bill is created and passed.

I think Chris Christie said it well before he sold out and made himself he laughing stock of the political world.  Ask trump HOW he is going to do this.

The thread tho speaks to the evolution to trump being able to completely fool and frustrate the GOP but exposing their vulnerability in how their base is so emotional and lacking a real conservative identity and understanding.  Cain showed that a businessman with some crazy ideas and no experience could be taken seriously by the GOP.  Imagine if Cain was racist, bigoted and white rather than black and able to play off of the angry hateful emotions of the GOP base? 

Perfect for trump to play his game  

I think you get the point of this thread,whether or not you have the ability to face it is another story

Trump.  Watch them flip flop if trump is the GOP candidate.

This lack of understanding of being conservative and lack of identity is why trump is able to fool the GOP voting base.  They don't know what to think indepdently beyond what is spoon fed to them by their Fox News and talking heads like beck.  I like that Rush is able to stay more neutral so doesn't appear as stupid as beck will, but intelligence is not a big factor with beck followers.
 
The GOP is responsible for what's going on with trump and have forged this path of desperation into its own problem

Darryl, here is the part that you're looking for that you won't find anywhere.

The Trump supporters for the most part are the low information voters on the conservative side that are sick and tired of the comprises made with libs up to this point. Trump will get a significant amount of crossover votes from dems too. 

If Trump were not running for potus there would be no issues for the GOP or an identity crisis as you insist which makes your claims as such, baseless.

You try and give this simple problem a complicated analysis and it simply doesn't fit. Trump is a no nonsense celebrity and many people feel like "what the frick, what do we have to lose at this point"

It truly is as simple as that.

Weird that when you get upset you start with the name calling.  What does Darryl mean anyways?

Perhaps I agree that trump voters are low information voters, but then this is a litmus test to display to the world  how much of the the GOP are made up of low information voters as evidenced by the numbers. 

When you say a significant amount of dems will cross over I actually disagree with you big time.  Sanders supporters are so far left they will concede and vote for Hillary before they vote for the rich, entitled, racist, emotional jackasss. 

The GOP identity crisis was apparent in the last election as evidenced by Cain as both the OP mentioned and I did earlier. It's weird that you balk at logical analysis.  Fear it rather than facing it. I get that the reality and logic may not agree with how you feel emotionally but it is what it is.


The fact that the GOP base feels like "what the frick" is a result of the Failed GOP strategy over the last 8 years and possibly beyond.  Like I said this is a diffeence in mind set as I believe in personal accountability and responsibility and that you reep what you sow.

It truly is as simple as that
