Mexican Navy are two words I have never heard put together. Till yesterday, when a Mexican Navy tall ship ( the Cuauhtémo ) seen traveling swiftly in reverse collided with the Brooklyn bridge... Then, its three masts struck the bridge's span and snapped, one by one, as the ship kept moving.
The Cuauhtémoc — is about 297 feet long ,40 feet wide and the main mast has a height of 160 feet tall.
The vessel, which was flying a giant Mexican flag and had 277 people aboard..
The Mexican navy was on a goodwill tour to the United States when it collided with the bottom of the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday evening killing two sailors ......22 total crew members were injured, including 11 in critical condition and nine in stable condition.
The 142-year-old bridge was spared major damage..
Traveling swiftly in reverse and too tall to clear under the bridge ... No wonder you never hear the two words Mexican Navy put together..

How were they allowed in US waterways?
Equalize, a new word I came up with.

I would've been a good old-tim sailor aside from being black. (There were black sailors. We weren't all cargo.)
I would've made a good pirate. Plundering booty. Kinda gay in spite of being 100% straight. Hard working. Don't get sea sick. Not afraid to climb rigging. All the disease and filth would suck though. Scurvy sounds like it blows.
TIME TO BRING BACK THE OBAMA CAGES!

Blackbeard was a G. First off, Queen Anne's Revenge is my all-time favorite name for a ship. Second, he was like 6'4" with a scraggly black beard that he would stick lit fuses in during battle, making himself look other worldly. He was the quintessential pirate, in my opinion. Unlike some of the dandy privateers in the age of sail.

I grew up with this term, so tend to forget some folks may not know it. So, I was not sure if you were questioning what it means. Or if you were questioning if Blackbeard was really one.
The term ‘G’ has roots in African American Vernacular English (AAVE), where it is used as a shortened form of ‘gangster’ or ‘gangsta,’ originally signifying someone involved in criminal activities or street life. Over time, the meaning of ‘G’ has evolved to represent someone who is cool, respected, or trustworthy.
Most times we would use it when talking about an older guy as OG, as in ‘oringinal gangsta’.

AAVE is some bullshit. Only in our community do scholars, not just African Americans but white liberals, only here if there a need to call slang something other than what it is.
With than said, you broke down the definition perfectly, brother.

Coincidentally, when I see a Mexican driving a pick up truck with too much shit in the back, I never drive behind them. I always figure, "There's no way homie secured that load properly." And when I don't see ratchet straps, i'm extremely wary. The average person can't tie a proper trucker's hitch in general. So piloting an ocean going vessel through a river channel is crazy work.
