What is the point for sticking around until 6:00 or later? Just so you can look good and fool people into thinking that you’re an awesome worker. I don’t give a fuck if people think I’m a shitty worker because I only put in 40 hours per week. I’ve been here for four years now and the hours I put in has never been mentioned in any review. Since it takes me 45 minutes to drive to work that actually is 9.5 hours with drive home and here. It’s not fare to compare a guy with a 5 minute drive to a guy with a 45 minute drive. These same people bitching are the ones that think there some really big shit around here. These fuckers are like covers little GameHunter here. They just love to hear themselves talk and no meeting can ever take place that will be less than 2 hours. And they’re fucking experts in every field. They just love to brag it up about there kids and always are the ones who spend an entire day collect money to buy some beast who’s popping there fourth child a baby shower gift. Last time I made up an excuse and got out of giving $10 because I already will be paying a lot in taxes to put this kid through school and pay for its health care. As far as I’m concerned I should be the one getting a nice gift for there kid in thanks for the 40K a year I pay in taxes for all these bullshit social programs.

Maybe if your commute was two hours, you could get away with working part-time on a 9-5 salary.

I show up 30 mins late, leave 30 mins early, take an hour and a half lunch, and live 5 mins from work.

My commute is about 30 seconds, longer if I stop to go potty.

Working from home kicks ass. And no co-workers.

If your shift ends at 5 then what is the big deal with leaving. I hate all of the kiss asses who stay at work to look good.

Most of these people are not even working when they stay. They stay so that people see, how the fuck is that productive.

This fucking cracked me up! I work till 4:30 everyday. My computer is shutdown at 4:29 everyday with my car keys in my hand, jacket on, ready to go. I am 100% convinced anyone that works past their normal hours:
    1) Is doing it for the reason you stated above
    2) It's their entire life
    3) Is really ineffective at their job during normal work hours

Tell those people off, Helmut. Is one of them the receptionist that you can't stand? What is your job?

This fucking cracked me up! I work till 4:30 everyday. My computer is shutdown at 4:29 everyday with my car keys in my hand, jacket on, ready to go. I am 100% convinced anyone that works past their normal hours:
    1) Is doing it for the reason you stated above
    2) It's their entire life
    3) Is really ineffective at their job during normal work hours

does donald trump work a 40 hour work week? no and neither does anyone who is successful. I always though that if you did what everyone else did, you were average. it you go beyond, that is what makes someone truly successful. my job is my life. i run a family owned business and it truly provides me with a lot. now, it does suck some of the time. but no one is getting to the top by doing the bare minimum. a perfect example is my older brother, he is 2 years older than I and a notch lower on the totem pole. and that is fine, everyone needs to find thier own balance of work and fun.

i am quite happy with average. Also, it's very different when you are running your own business, as in your case. More incentive to work harder/longer.

i myself wish i could get off work like all my friends around 4:30-5:00. they get to play softball together and hang out. I get to eat dinner around 9 o'clock, have a beer or two and try to stay up and watch a cover. i know i make more money that most of my friends, but money is no substitute for happiness, and no substitute for time well spent with freinds.

Well, I guess it depends on the job you have and the way you're paid. If it is a job with low responsability, you dont have to work more than you're paid for. If your job has lots of responsability, then you shouldn't have a rigid schedule. It means working late sometimes, but your salary should be a lot higher.

Whatever is your case, I dont criticize anyone for working after 6, it shows some ambition in life. But I dont criticize anyone for not doing it, specially if you are in the first case.

I think what he is saying NoNeed is that alot of hourly employees do not get bonuses and therefore have no incentive to work harder. Some choose to work longer for the overtime, but this doesn't mean that they work harder than anybody else. In fact where I work the guys who work the most overtime are actually the lazy ones and only do so for the money.
