I hate missing your picks is there anyway you could set up a list via email or other method that we could get right on our phone? Most people in this business carry an internet enabled phone. I wish covers would consider linking this with an iphone ap that allows you to get new post from cappers you like to follow.

I appreciate the kind words, but posting is time consuming. I have no time or interest in sending out daily emails. I have accessed Covers through my cell phone before although it involved a lot of scrolling. Are you sure you can't do it from your Iphone?

Spring training is a totally different handicapping dynamic. I haven't really dabbled with it yet. As for today, I'd take a long look at the Baltimore O's over the Washington Nats today. The Nats lineup today looks like a Double A minor league lineup.

hey   i was wondering how much stock you guys put into waiting until may or so to start making picks?? last year i just watched for the first month to get a feel for the season and then i began capping in may.. and this strategy worked out well for me.. I'm thinking about taking april off again because of the uncertainty.. do you guys feel that april presents a good money opportunity or do some of you stay away as well?

I play mostly at Matchbook...there is no reason to play elsewhere.......I have a local who is set up offshore but it's a 10 cent line...I also have access through a close friend to Pinnacle....however, Matchbook is easy to fund for me and it is worth thousands of dollars for me each month in the juice I earn and save.

couple of questions for you GH,. Do you ever try and use matchbook through your phone, doesnt work on mine.

I know you've been successful the last few years that I know about anyway, 141 units, 75 units last year, what was your average unit size to get to that, some games you are 2 units, some 1.75, some 1.25?

Also how was your april the year before cause i know that your april last year was a bit trying before turning it around.

Sorry to add to the load of questions but I use pinny almost exclusively and have had nothing but success finding great lines for all major sports.  I have never used Matchbook.

Q: Are you recommending Matchbook simply because Americans cannot access Pinny?  Or is there actually some benefit to Pinny customers only offered at Matchbook?  ie. a certain type of line or play not available at Pinny...

I gather they are both reduced juice so assuming Pinny is just as economical as Matchbook, just want to get your take

One thing I would like to add is that BOOKMAKER is the only book that offers In-Game (During the 5th inning of a game) lines on MLB 2nd halves: 6-9th inning. Sometimes there is great value in these kind of plays and they give you the opportunity to hedge full game wagers. If you are interested in playing In-Game 2nd half lines, then Bookmaker is a must (For these particular wagers ONLY!).

    Hey JJ.

I don't think Matchbook is cellphone accessible. I know I can't do it either and I think their software is not compatible with cell phones.

My average wager 2 years ago was 1.37 units and last year was 1.42 units.

Hey Happy! While Pinny is good, I find that matchbook is better. Pinny typically has 8 cent spreads (i.e., favorite -116, dog +108). Matchbook will typically have that same game in my example as favorite -112 or -113 and dog +112 or +111/. You will typically get 4 cents better at Matchbook. Over the course of the season where I play about a thousand games, those four cents per game, add up to five figures for me. In addition, under MB's new rules started last week, if you make the offer on a game that is accepted (which I do 89% of the time), they pay you 0.2% on the game. So for each $1500 play, that's an additional $3 in my pocket and it costs me nothing.

Also, yes, Matchbook is US accessible.

I like 6th-9th inning wagers and dabble with them sometimes, but my local using an offshore website offers them to me so I have the best of both worlds. Good point about Bookmaker though.

Great info GH really appreicate the insight.  I am somewhat new to this and at the risk of sounding stupid, I am not sure I understand the 20, 10 cent lines.  I use BookMaker only right now.  Thanks

No problem Ben.....with a name like that, I hope you have a good golf game.

Certain books offer 20 cent spreads between favorites and dogs on the same game. For example, say the Yankees are playing Kansas City. The line may be 7-8 (which means 140-160). That is a 20 cent spread. It means if you take the favorite, the Yankees here, you lay 8 to 5 (-160) and if you take the dog, the Royals, you get +7 to 5 (+140). There's a 20 cent spread for the house when you have people taking the favorite at -160 and the dog at +140.

When there's a 10 cent line, in my example, the Yankees would probably be -155 which means if you take the Yanks, you lay -155 and if you take the Royals, you get +145. There's a 10 cent difference in the house's favor.

If you use a place like Matchbook, that same game will probably have a line of -150/+149. Therefore if you took the Yanks, you lay -150 and if you play the Royals, you take +149.

Therefore, you can be paying an extra $10 per $100 if you use a 20 cent line and an extra $5 per $100 if you use a 10 cent line. That could add up to a lot of money over the course of a season.

    Hope that helped.

Given the past history, I had to chuckle at this. You certainly gained a lot of respect from people after being gratious upon the conversion of the artist formally known as Helmut.

Anyway, thoughts this year GH? Are you going into the season with preconceptions on teams and betting them early or are you picking situations?

    Great information GameHunter.

Couple comments: I noticed you didnt compare baseball to NHL betting. I think baseball is most comparable to NHL as far as winning percentages. Even the worse teams have fairly good home records.

Also,k I bet more two team parlays in baseball than I do underdogs. Over the last five years my two team parlays made more money than dog plays. The key is try and find as many small favorites for the parlay. Not taking the two biggest favorites which seems the easiest. Usually I take a big fav -200 or and -150 team, pays around +130ish.

    A two team parlay on a -200 and a -150 pays = +150.

Gamehunter, do you find your units (weight) system plays a large roll in the season outcome profitwise?

I am a flat dime player, do you suppose my results would be FAR OFF yours if I bet each of your plays for a dime regardless of your weighting?

It boils down to a question of how much you think your weightings dictate your profits, rather than your actual picks/win-loss record per se.  If you have no basis for comparing I will simply apply a straight +110 average play against your w-l record and get a sense.

Thanks again for your time and reply to my previous question.
