Why in the hell are the Leafs contemplating replacing Marner 102 pts with a cement hand 8 go 25 assist Max Domi when they can just throw Nylander 45 goals and 39 assists on right wing with Matthews and Knies big powerful line Nylander probably score 60 goals with Matthews and Knies a complete no brainer move no wonder they haven't won the Cup in 58 years.

Hello lookingtowin , my guess is that it's to create two lines that can be considered a scoring threat, much the the same way that the Oilers don't like to play McDavid and Draisaitl together?
Lets face it after you've run out your first of Matthews, Knies and Nylander your looking at Tavares and ?. Who is your second line ? Tavares , McMann and Domi doesn't exactly strike fear in many I'm sure. I actually like the idea of having Tavares and Nylander stay together they do have a certain familiarity and if McMann can return to a 20 goal scorer again it's a great second line. This drops Domi down to the third line where he should be IMO.
I say give Maccelli a chance on the top line he can do the dirty work and dish to the other two. That doesn't work let's see what Cowan has.
Either way, ain't up to us it's Berube's problem.
I'm not a big Berube fan though.

@ rustie thanks for commenting I just think a line of Nylander Knies Matthews be the most feared line in the NHL as far as trying to defend against them all big boys and once they Gel watch out. Having Domi there (who as far as i'm concerned is not even a fourth liner on this team) and they are going to stick him on the first line this is a break out season for Knies he is going to be a beast. Really if they are thinking Cup get the big boys together and let them rip all three will score 50 or more.

Agree Knies could take a big step forward this year ,and from what I've heard from him he's ready to step up and take on more responsibility with Marner gone which would be great for this team.
My question for you is - who is going to do the dirty work ? Sure you can plant Knies in front of the net to do the job there and Matthews is a sniper but Willy ain't going into the corners and digging that puck out , that's not his style. Need that guy that's going to get these guys the puck and that's where you need the grinders like Maccelli and Roy and even a Domi.
Love having these convo's , there should be more of it.
Good luck this season mon ami.

Have to agree with Rustie on Willy.. if you take him away from Tavares, 2nd line becomes pretty thin. Leafs have plenty of “grind” type players that Berube will slot in there until they find the right fit.
One thing I hope Berube does more of this year tho is when Willy’s feeling it, don’t be afraid to change the lines up in-game and put him up with Auston. Because you’re right ‘lookingtowin, knies/matthews/Willy will be a problem for teams to handle.
overall with Marner gone, I look for a much more balanced attack for the leafs this year. For once, Torontos has a very solid D core and two good goalies which is unusual for the leafs. I can see them winning more low scoring games this year and relying on their power play unit to win them games.
