What a game - watched rest of 3P and OT this morning. Under was NOT in the cards Game 4, but things may change with Capt Jean-Luc in net for Game 5. Before we hand him the Conn Smythe and start stroking his dick, remember he is a career backup & journeyman Minor League Goalie, posting a 2.9 GAA and Save% of 0.903 in 175 games over almost 15 years.
What is working in his favor, however, is the simple fact that he basically has no pressure on him - Skinner almost put them in a 3-1 series hole, and FLA backed off the gas when Picard came in game 4 and they won. No matter what happens, its all on Stewie: If they win, Pickard's a hero, if they lose, we'll all bash the Coaches and Skinner. I like Oil's chances now with a loose goose Star Trek legend in the pipes regardless of how poor he has performed career wise...

There's been little that's been consistently wrong with his efforts in these playoffs ever since he got a rough start vs. LA out of the way. Recency bias aside, that's all that matters. In the game just gone he made what turned out to be the tide-turning 1v1 save at 1-3 down, and managed crucial stops in OT I doubt Skinner would've mirrored. When the Panthers did bring the heat, he stood up. His sole error was being too loose in his crease re the late tying goal, but his wasn't the only defensive error in that scoring sequence. He must be there for every game now, irrespective of the next game's result. Skinner is no one's SCF winner, nothing against the guy who obviously put in good results against Dallas and consecutive shutouts to finish off Vegas (but Vegas' top reg. season scorers laid huge eggs in that series, Skinner's results there show more how bad Vegas offense was rather than how good he, Skinner, "really is").

Lucky for him when he gets SO it is because other teams best players laid eggs, when Oil lose it is because of him.
He was a creep. Wait he betrayed me.

The Vegas offense observation is purely factual, their top scorers stunk in that series relative to their reg. season efforts. But just because they stunk, it doesn't mean Skinner's twice shutting them out weren't good efforts, as I noted but you deliberately chose not to because it undermined the point you thought you were making. If the worst teams in the NHL get shut out, the opposing goalie put in a good effort no matter how bad his opponent was (short of his opponent never getting a single shot on goal). 'Sun rises in the morning' stuff.

Can't argue what you're saying on Skinner, however, just from a pure playing the position of Goalie, while he has decent positioning, he has (IMHO) terrible rebound control and he can't scramble well after he gives up a rebound. Part of that is on Edm Defense, part of it on him. If he can see a shot, he has to control where he puts the rebound. Pickard is really more of a challenging goalie who uses butterfly technique well, and so its not surprising when you switch Goalies mid game, who's style is different that you see the team dominating the scoresheet go silent, as they had a game plan on where/how to shoot, and that plan has to change mid-game.
Game 5 will be telling, as Knoblauch has to go with the Capt at this point, or he'll be flayed alive by the media. I think FLA will adjust in Game 5 to Pick and not get shutdown again for 2.5 periods of hockey.
Rooting for Oil just for McDavid to get a cup, but this series is a coin flip and not one to bet a lot of money on a side. Overs here on out may be warranted, as Bob has looked merely human, and Oil can't stop FLA at all, regardless of Goalie.

Leon has 4 OT Goals, and is second in overall scoring. He is Edmonton's go to guy when they need a goal. No Goalie is winning the Cunny Smythe, and I think Leon should be the shortest odds but Bennett is holding that. I think Leon leapfrogs him, so +250 is hard to pass up after four games.
Leon Conn Smythe +250 1u

took Drai also for Conn Smythe--2 walk off goals this series--and hard to fade him if Edmonton wins the Cup which looks good at this point!

Pickard has .896 SP and is 7-0 in playoffs , sun rises in the morning stuff.

Fuck - went golfing and then out to dinner with some friends, and never posted my bets. Had Over 6 & 6.5 and FLA -1. Oh well, posted bets not impacted, but I am a l'il richer today than yesterday.
Missed most of the game, but 4-1 in 3rd Period sounds like FLA did FLA things. Having Marchand on your 3rd Line is a bit unfair. He's a bona fide first Liner still, so not surprising that he is impacting the game like he is.
Oil are done. Get out your forks and wake up the Fat Lady, it's time to sing a song...
