Why don't NFL refs know the rules of intentional grounding?
This is why the NFL is a joke nowadays. You have video replay for some things and then claim you can’t use it for others. The refs can make as many mistakes as they want, cause the wrong teams to win games, and have nobody to answer to. Not talking fixed game conspiracies I have no interest in that for now. But the game is decided by the rules. If the rules only have to be followed half the time then there is no honesty in the competition

The refs made up for it by missing calls in Denver too. The missed tripping call that ended up being a 10 yard sack instead of a 15 yard penalty and automatic first down. These things should never be able to happen with the technology that they have.

Gotta disagree with you. If a finger even grazes a face mask, it's a penalty. If a QB tries to avoid/dodge a tackle and causes a defender to hit his helmet, it's a penalty.
Denver player very much kicked out his leg intentionally even if it only "grazed" Mariota - and it was enough to cause him to try to dodge his leg and fall over. Flag for tripping was very much the right call.

Sad part is that we are being told that each game is reviewed by the league after completion to determine if a ref or crew was good or bad...even though this is being done, they still have issues week after week...the league should step up and use common sense in some of these situations...I mean, what's the point of an expedited review process if it is only used selectively...why not get the calls right and bring integrity to the game that has been lacking...the idea is to make the right call...refs are human and will make mistakes, that's what humans do, but the technology is there to assist...instead they spend all this money to have electronic measurements for first downs but have yet to chip the ball to get accurate on field placement of the football at any given time...not even for goal line technology which would be very useful and would take all human aspect out of whether or not the ball touched the goal line....
It's 2025 c'mon league pull your head out of your ass...even soccer has goal line technology![]()

100%. What's the point of reviewing all the calls post-game if they're not holding refs accountable for it - especially when they're game changing mistakes - which lends to a lot of people thinking it's intentional and by design with all the legalized gambling.
Same as sticking to stupid rules where you can't challenge penalties, you can't challenge anything within the last 2 minutes (when bad calls by refs are completely game deciding), or where they review a challenge and spot something else but can't call it because they can only look at whatever specifically is being challenged.
Also, the booth/New York being able to look at stuff and call in a correction but them not doing it like 99% of the time something egregious happens.
It's all very damn selective and makes things look sus as hell to the public that is watching all this on TV. And then you even have the refs and the on air rules expert / former-ref disagreeing. Or some verbal diarrhea while trying to justify a bad call/review decision.
Forget which game, but there was one where it was a terrible call, the on air rules expert tried to justify it, and Joe Buck was like "ok, hard disagree, but moving on" and just started talking about other stuff going on in the game.
