@Rush51
Howard is trash. Best wide outs in country under throwing them all the time.
lol youre so dramatic. yes rudolph took over when pitt was 7-7 that season and they won the last 3 games and went to the playoffs. those games were against a burrow-less benglas, seattle, and a jackson-less ravens and then got mauled in the playoffs. bills were up 14-0 and pitt was close to scoring before rudolph threw a pick and a few players later bills were up 21-0. nothing against rudolph but not sure why youve been crying about him all this time. this past season as a starter he went 1-6 with the lone win being a 3 point win against the pats. wouldnt call him a savior. pitt needs a staple qb they tried with the hometown pickett the team just isnt good at getting qbs after ben and too cheap to pay for a good starter.

Just wait till they extend Watt for $40 million per. We will get to watch him do 8-12 sacks dances per year for the next 4 years .WooHoo ! I would trade him this year for 2026 picks and move up to secure a QB#1 next season. Rudolph can be a nice bridge to a 7-10 season. Tomlin and Steelers do not have a clue when it comes to young QB`s and drafting or developing. That can be said for most teams to be fair.

I like Dart and not alot. Im a Ohio st. fan and Will Howard is trash. Under throws balls and not great at hitting target in stride. Nfl window much smaller. If ohio st had solid QB could of been one of best ever. With all this being said steelers are becoming a 3rd tier team not good.

im thinking how many blk head coaches were successfull as tomlin ok most blk gc's were horrible only two were sucessful
tony dungy and tomlin
heres some names you might recall one is still active with bucs Todd Bowles
Frazier was the Vikings' coach from 2010-2013, leading Minnesota to its biggest single-season turnaround in franchise history (3-13 in 2011 to 10-6 in 2012). He compiled a record of 21-32.
He is currently the Bills' defensive coordinator.
Jackson, who is the current coach of Grambling State, was the head coach of the Raiders (2011) and Browns (2016-2018). He ended those two stints with an overall record of 11-44-1.
Lynn was the interim head coach of the Bills for one game in 2016 before becoming the head coach of the Chargers from 2017-2020. He lost his single game with Buffalo and finished 33-31 with Los Angeles.
He is the current running backs coach for the 49ers.
Joseph, who is the current defensive coordinator of the Cardinals, coached the Broncos for two seasons (2017-2018). He went 11-21 in 32 games.
Flores finished 24-25 in three seasons with the Dolphins (2019-2021) and remains connected to the franchise. He is embroiled in a lawsuit that he filed against multiple teams, including Miami, and the NFL for discriminatory hiring practices.
He is currently the linebackers coach for the Steelers.
McDaniel, who identifies as biracial, was named the head coach of the Dolphins

Tony Dungy chimed in on the Steelers' QB situation. His advice is to draft Dillon Gabriel in the first round. Dungy opines that he sees the same qualities in Gabriel that Bo Nix has. Dungy and Tomlin are tight especially since it was Dungy who pleaded Tomlin's case with the Rooney family to get the head coaching job. I doubt if MT will do as Dungy suggested though, he dances to the beat of a different drum. It is the drum of desperation.
Aside from allowing Aaron Rodgers to prk tease them by pretending to be interested in the Steelers, Tomlin has been flying in Shadeur Sanders to their facility a lot lately. This is usually a sign that he is their man. Some speculation that Sanders will be drafted by the Saints but I doubt it.
In addition to Sanders, the Steelers have hosted Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough and Dart. Mike Tomlin and GM Omar Khan also attended numerous pro days, where they visited with Ohio State QB Will Howard, Alabama QB Jalen Milroe, Texas QB Quinn Ewers, and Notre Dame QB Riley Leonard.
I have the utmost confidence that the Steelers' brain trust (Tomlin) will blow it.
The only hope for the Steeler franchise is for the current 72 year old 'woke' owner to step down and hand over the reigns to his son Daniel. Perhaps he will have the stones to find a way to move on from Tomlin and the repetitive mediocrity.
I admire the Eagles' ownership as they are focused on winning Superbowls and not simply participating. They fired a head coach that had led them to a Superbowl not so many years ago. Produce or you are gone, the NFL is a business and their business is winning and I don't mean participation trophies.

Brian Flores moved onto Minnesota where he has been the DC. I love the defensive approach of Brian Flores and I would hire him as a head coach...maybe. I admire him for exposing the Dolphins' ownership for their chicanery and fraudulent actions.
Dennis Green was a success as a head coach with the Vikings (10 seasons) IMO. He took the Vikings to the edge of greatness and then ended his career with the Cardinals for 3 seasons.
Tony Dungy would have had greater success without those pesky Patriots around. His Colts' years made it all interesting. Though I disagree with him on a few issues, he is a man of honor.

I commend the Steelers on their #1 pick of Oregon DT Derrick Harmon. They might go either a QB, RB, or WR in the 3rd round. They traded away their 2nd in order to get DK Metcalf which was another solid move.
Rumors of Pickens being traded as he is on the last year of his contract (not for it).
Bills picked Maxwell Hairston CB Kentucky, don't know enough to comment on that pick.

Since joining the Steelers in 2007, he has led the team to 12 playoff appearances, seven division titles, three AFC Championship Games, two Super Bowlappearances, and a title in Super Bowl XLIII.
3rd best record since 2007
NE - .668
GB - .640
PIT - .630
KC - .589
NO - .582
So, I am not sure of your definition of ‘mediocrity’, but I think 25+ teams would like that type of ‘success’.
They now have 21 straight non-losing seasons. That is tied for the most ever.
That is NOT ‘mediocrity’.
I get that you do not like Tomlin and think he is just mediocre. I still say he gets the most out of his talent than nearly all other coaches. Look at how well he did the last few years with a much deteriorated Big Ben. Then when Ben goes down for the season and without Antonio Brown, they still won 7 of the next 8 with Rudolph at QB and they make the playoffs.
Then the next year they have a rookie QB, a journeyman QB, and a mediocre QB they start 2-6. Then turn it around and finish 9-8 and barely missed the playoffs.
Then with Pickett and Rudolph they still make the playoffs two years after Ben.
Then last year they start very well with a one-dimensional Fields that is still learning and a much-depleted Wilson, that is now mostly a game manager. They still make the playoffs and even had the division lead for a large part of the season.

You cannot win consistently in the NFL without a legitimate franchise QB. Yet, Tomlin still does.
You cannot name another coach that does that or even could do it.
Today’a NFL is a QB-driven league more so than at any other time.
Too many QBs are called ‘franchise’ QBs when they really should not be.
Tomlin has not had a franchise QB since a prime Big Ben. Wilson used to be one but no longer seems to be.
With that being said, if Rodgers is willing to take the $10M or whatever to play — they should sign him. He is still good and could very well be the answer to them getting back to a SB. They have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball now and appear to be very close to taking the next step.
That is exactly what Minnesota should have done also.
Fans have for some weird reason turned on Rodgers since the pandemic and because of his politics, etc. They say teams do not want to deal with his ego and drama. It is very weird to me. What great QB does not have an ego, and rightly so.
NFL players are professionals and that sort of thing should not bother them. Because by all accounts he is a good teammate. He is a proven winner and looked good on a far worse Jets team last year.
Besides, who is better at handling knuckleheads than Tomlin. Look at how he kept Bell, Brown, Ben, etc. under control.
A good team and a good coach should not care that much about that; they only care about whether the guy will help them win.
I think it is worth a shot until you can find whomever you think is the next franchise QB.
Rodgers still has a great arm and can make all the throws. He showed good mobility after the surgery. He certainly can read defenses. And he obviously wanted to go to a team that need a QB to make the next move because they have all the other pieces and were so close last year.
There are only two choices — Steelers and Vikings.
I think Dungy is a very nice guy and was a decent coach. But a much better defensive coach.
I am not so sure how much attention I would pay to him on offensive advice and especially about Quarterbacks.

I got a buddy that gives me a hard time bc I told him that I didn’t bother to watch the playoff game vs Buffalo in January of ‘24.
i told him I knew what was going to happen, and it did. They got embarrassed again. Why would I waste my time when I know EXACTLY what to expect?
The only reason I watched the clown show against the Ravens was bc I happen to be visiting a friend that wanted to watch. At the half he turned the TV off and I didn’t have any issues with it. Same shit different season.
Honestly it’s embarrassing. They don’t even belong on the same field with these teams. They get out coached and out classed EVERY SINGLE JANUARY. I used to make fun of teams being one and done every year. I’ll NEVER do that again bc the Steelers have already proven to be THE BIGGEST PRETENDERS in modern history.

@Raiders22
A .421 postseason playoff percentage is mediocrity.
An 8-11 playoff record is mediocre.
No playoff wins in 8 years is beyond mediocre and pathetic considering the talent he had.
In their last 5 playoff games the Steelers were outscored 73-0 after the first quarter. Tomlin's teams were unprepared and outcoached.
How many Superbowls did Tomlin win with Antonio Brown, Leveon Bell, Big Ben and some very good defenses? The same number that you and I won.
Tomlin's Superbowl team in 2008 had Bruce Arians as his OC and Dick Lebeau as his DC and he wasn't allowed to meddle in their game plans.
When it became unbearable, they both left and Tomlin has since had a stranglehold on all football operations to the detriment of the team.
Tomlin has been a lousy evaluator of QB talent since the departure of Roethlisberger.
Nice try but all you are doing is vomiting back what you have heard on mainstream sports' media.
Steeler Nation isn't satisfied with participation trophies. They want the only one that counts with the Lombardi name on it.

On paper the Steelers had an excellent draft. Tough to know how many of these college athletes transition to the pros.
They beefed up their Dline 2x, drafted a promising RB, QB, and LB.
A Rodgers' announcement is forthcoming soon. They avoided the Sanders' family clown car so bravo to them!!!

They are tied for 8th with the most playoff wins since Tomlin took over.
That is not mediocrity at all.
It is VERY hard to make the playoffs and even harder to win in the playoffs. It is EVEN harder to do it without a franchise QB.
None of this is what I heard from the media. I just know it and looked it up for accuracy.
It is just the expectation of well-known teams and past winners that folks always expect them to win championships.
The expectations for the Steelers is like that of the Cowboys, Yankees, and Duke, for example.
It is hard to understand that a team that is consistently above mediocrity is seen as only mediocre. Compare them to the 20+ teams that have fewer playoff wins — let alone playoff appearances.
As far as naming the well-known players, that is just a factor of a popular franchise. People know the players on those teams. Folks also slightly overrate those players just because they know who they are. There could be better players on less popular teams that are better. The league is more a passing game, so a RB is not nearly as important as a QB. When that not-so prime QB only has one legitimate WR that may not be enough. But either way they were in contention those years.
But when you lose to Rodgers in the Super Bowl, a lucky (busted coverage) play to Denver in OT in a tough playoff stadium, Flacco and a good defense, Manning and a good Bronco defense (again at Mile High), Brady in NE in CF, to a Jacksonville team that was rolling and their Steeler defense fell apart, to the Browns where Mayfield caught fire and a now-depleted and injured Big Ben, to Mahomes in KC, to Allen in Buffalo, to Jackson in Baltimore — that is not bad at all.
Look at the franchise QBs they lost to: Rodgers, Manning, Flacco, Brady, Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, and maybe Mayfield. The only losses that looked like they should have won would be the first Denver game and the Jacksonville game. But is is hard to win a playoff game in Denver and sometimes a team gets hot for one game or part of your team cools off all of a sudden, like your defense.

Now look at the wins.
Beat Baltimore and Flacco and that defense, beat San Diego and Rivers, Arizona and Warner, Baltimore and Flacco and that defense again, Jest with Sanchez playing well that year, Cincinnati in Cincinnati with McCarron, Miami and Moore, Kansas City and Smith.
So, with a prime and healthy Big Ben they could beat a team with a good defense and a franchise QB. With a deteriorating Big Ben it became hard to do, but they could still beat mediocre QBs with him.
I get that people are x pet more form them. The fans in Pittsburgh for sure do.
But far, far more teams would LOVE that ‘mediocrity’ in the regular season and the playoffs that the Steelers have had.
Yes, Tomlin is not emotional and makes bad in-game decisions from time to time. But by all accounts he is a player’s coach and that is why he is so successful at motivating them and getting so much out of talent that is seemingly overrated, especially at the QB position that is so important nowadays.
Again, no other coach does this or could do it. He is almost like Gibbs and Parcells at doing that with the QB position; no other coach is close in that regard.
That is why I say Tomlin with a legitimate franchise QB would be fantastic. These QBs are just too hard to find. Most teams never really get one. He has not had one since a prime Big Ben.
That is why I say he should go get Rodgers and see if that will get them over ‘mediocrity’ for one or two seasons.

Tomlin has been a lousy evaluator of QB talent since the departure of Roethlisberger.
Is he? He is not the only one making that evaluation.
Colbert had been the GM since before Tomlin until a couple of years ago.
So how much of that falls on Khan the GM now?
What has their choice been really? They do not draft high enough to get a top-tier QB because they win so consistently.
Mid-rounders are very suspect. A Brady is just too rare.
There have not been great trade or free agent opportunities. They tried with Tribusky and he went 2-3 and the folks wanted Pickett. So, he did not get as fair a chance as he maybe would have if Pickett was not seen as ‘the guy’ by the fans.
Then they tried Fields and Wilson. They made the playoffs and both QBs looked good at times.
It is just too hard to get a franchise QB. Look at teams like Chicago and Cleveland that draft a QB every year — no matter what or who, just in case.
Very, very, very few GMs or coaches are excellent at QB evaluating and translating it to franchise-QB success longterm.

The issue is not that I am a Steeler fan; I am not.
I am not even a real Tomlin apologist.
I simply do not understand why even folks that are NOT Steelers’ fans think they should have more success than they already do.
They do not expect it from Atlanta, Chicago, Seattle, San Diego, New Orleans, etc.
Only with Dallas and Pittsburgh is this sort of expectation set this high.
This is not the ‘70s, ‘80s, or ‘90s.
