I think it's also worth nothing that Baltimore is getting back stud CB Jimmy Smith for this game

First, they are traveling to play against a team that should be well rested and well healed coming off of a bye.
I realize this is not the best way to compare teams "week to week", but Carolina did a real "beat down" on Dallas the first week of the season winning easier then the 16-8 (by 8) score would indicate. Dallas was never really in the game. Then I look at how bad Dallas outplayed the Giants the next week winning 20-13 (by 7). Next, I look at how Carolina beat the Bengals the week before their bye 31-21 (by 10) and we just saw the Bengals go on the road and get the win in Atlanta.
When I look at this entire picture, to me it adds up to Carolina winning and covering the 6.5 points. There must be some match-up problems or something else I am not considering. What is it that makes you so high on the Giants this week?

Not to mention the G-Men are in a 'look-ahead' spot playing TNF to start week 6 against a heated rival in the Eagles.
A couple of things stick out for me as to a Giants cover...
1. Carolina is 4-5 SU & ATS coming off a bye week in the Newton era. You look at elite QB's in this span (Brady, Rogers, Brees, Stafford, Ryan, Flacco) all have 66%+ records coming off a bye. Newton posting sub .500 record in this spot says something about his focus and preparation with a week off to think about his game and body...
2. OBJ had some pretty strong comments in the media this week about his teams' 'lack of heart' over the first few games. Calling out his OC's play calling as well (not enough deep throws). maybe the team rallies around the shot OBJ threw at them and they show up to play a hell of a game.
In the end, CAR is a public pick with a juicy line. To me it screams Giants sneak out a victory...

This line tells me these two teams are even, which they aren't. Chiefs are a much better team so I see value in them. However, they are in an awful spot having to travel after an altitude game in Denver, and then Pats on SNF next. Pass for me.

You have the Browns of old in your head. This Browns team should be 4-0 ATS this season, they aren't bad. All this team needed last year was a QB, and now they have 1. Despite Hue Jackson not being a great X and O guy, his players play hard for him every single week (even last year). They just never had the talent or a QB

As for Gmen, the Giants aren't in a look-ahead spot at 1-3. If they were 3-1 then sure. But the fact that they have the Superbowl champs on deck, just makes this game that much more important. They can't go into a tough game like that at 1-4 as their season very quickly will look grim. OBJ calling out his teammates for lack of energy/passion. And they aren't facing an offensive juggernaut on the other side, as Panthers games are usually close. Since 2017, Carolina's average margin when they win games is only 8.92. They aren't the Saints, or the Patriots etc. Must win game for NY against a team that plays close games.
