Also, Roquon Smith did not have an agent either, and became the highest paid linebacker in history.
Works for some, doesn't for others.
The best ability is availability.
Jackson is not someone a franchise can count on playing a full season, let alone get to the playoffs healthy.
At the QB position, he's untouchable for the type of money he's looking for...only a bottom feeder type of team would reach...Colts/Atlanta/Washington
He'll sit out rather than play for Ravens

The Watson deal will go down as one of the worst in the history of sports.

I don't buy that Lamar will sit out the season. Someone is going to sign him. Dim-witted fans buy into all the "injury prone" BS, but people who play sports understand it's an idiotic concept. The fact that a QB has been injured in the past does not make him more likely than other QBs to be injured in the future (at least not to a statistically significant degree).
He doesn't deserve the ludicrous money that he's demanding... but someone will pay him a bit less than ludicrous, and probably rightly so...

This stings that he had the thought of wanting out of B-more..... I was one of the very few big Lamar supporters online when we drafted him I was excited, not many people believed in him outside of Bmore, not even the majority of gloomy Bmore fans . Fans were split between Flacco and Lamar during the 2018 season but I was open to letting Lamar start. Then I had high expectations for Lamar having a fantastic 2019 season and said before the season we would have the best offense in team history which turned out to be the case. I was rewarded with a Lamar MVP 100/1 cash ticket which I thought had an outsiders chance but didn't think it would actually hit. Thought the NFL would play favorites and hand it to Brady, Rodgers or Mahomes again so that was a bit surprising but Lamar was unquestionably the MVP that year. 2020 was a strange year, seem like we finally made some progress in the playoff pursuit but ever since then it seems to kind of went downhill from there...
I don't know what else to say or who to pass the blame around for Lamar wanting to leave. Seems like the Ravens staff on their end also fumbled their window of opportunity by not getting established recievers for Lamar to throw to, instead drafting unproven rookie recievers and trying to develop them despite our horrible track record in that department. Then still keeping our strength and conditioning coach when health started to become an issue again for Ravens players. Lastly, keeping Greg Roman longer than we should have. He should have been axed after the 2021 season.
Some of those changes have finally been made now but wonder if it's a little too late. Ravens haven't made any sort of big free agency moves yet which kinda scares me. Still haven't addressed the reciever position.. Nelson Agholor is the best they could do? We usually sign at least one recognizable free agent or two by this time. I guess there is still time to drum up some excitement for the Ravens between now and the Draft but right now I am not really looking forward to the 2023 season as a fan.. The latest Lamar talks is not an encouraging sign things will go for the better. Even if Lamar were to stay on the tag and play for Ravens, how can I trust Lamar to give 100% it seems clear to me now that he is becoming more of a me-player unlike Mahomes who is a team-player. Didn't think this was the side of Lamar Id thought I see. Lamar preaches being humble but actions don't seem to match. I dont quite trust the Ravens organization either for handling some of the decisions of late seems to be a little disconnect between team, player and fans. However, despite those issues I support Ravens for not caving in to Lamar's ridiculous demands. Clearly, if Lamar really wanted to try to bring a Super Bowl to Baltimore he would try to make his contract teamfriendly enough to leave some money on the table to sign the players he needs to get the job done.
Ok that was long. End rant. Lol

They had to give it to Lamar in 19, he lead the offense that set the all time rushing record and i believe he lead the league in td passes. As for contract talks it seems that it's went something like this, Ravens make offer Lamar says no i want the mint,Ravens make offer,Lamar says no I want the mint, Ravens make offer Lamar says no I want the mint.Ravens say ok, we love you Lamar so here is the key to unlock offers of the mint from other teams. And here we are.

I am an outsider looking in, and I have not followed the LJ contract negotiations story closely, but your Comment #37 seems spot on to me.
Whatever team LJ plays for this coming season should not expect to get 17 starts out of him. The backup QB will end up having to help salvage some of the big bucks spent on LJ.

Looking to me like LJ will sit out most or all of 2023.
Why don't the Ravens guarantee the three year 133 million (44 per) and add a condition in the contract that if he plays at an elite level he will be paid top QB money at the time of renewal?
Bad for the team and for the NFL for him to sit out as he is an entertaining player.

Him sitting on his couch at home cuddling with his mom in December and January while watching his teammates suffer with inept QB play when he was medically cleared to play yet decided to sidestep the rest of the season in order for him to avoid getting hurt again prior to his contract renewal situation doesn't sound like the type of entertainment this league, owners, or teammates would consider deserving praise by offering him the type of money he's asking for.
Good on the league, owners, and everyone else involved standing pat, and not giving in to a spoiled man child who will inevitably get hurt again...he quit on his teammates in order to protect his own financial gains, and there is no excuse for that in professional sports.
F him,,, I hope he is railroaded out of the league so he can join Kapernick throw his own mom under the bus and blame this all on her, just like Kapernick recently soiled his own adoptive parents with such disregard and disrespect in the name of self promotion.
If another franchise is willing to sign him, they deserve all the Kyrie Kancer Irving type of misfortunes coming their way, as it'll be only a matter of weeks before someone knocks him to the ground and his fragile body & ego cracks again.

Of course they had to it would have been criminal if they didn't based on the records they had set. During the course of the season i was a bit concerned NFL favoritism would get in the way which I'm glad they didn't. It was clear by the middle of December it would be LJ and yep he led the league in pass TDs

Yes , and now heard he supposedly wants to play for the Patriots? And now doesn't care about getting the Watson-style fully guaranteed money? In that case, if that is his plan to want out of Baltimore not because of the money I feel even more betrayed.. and to a team that we have some animosity against.. Anyone but the Patriots.. in that case if that's where he ends up going I do not wish him well...

@packersbackers
That is kind of where I stand in this whole mess, on the management's side. Even though they haven't always been forthright on some issues the Ravens supposedly offered Lamar a fairly substantial deal... they're breaking the bank and paying him like a top 5 QB... Lamar is hurting himself by not taking it.. the more he holds out the more he loses the money he deserves. Ravens had prior experience with paying Flacco big money and not achieving the desired results. Hope Lamar comes to his senses but if not adios nice knowing ya ....

According to an article I read, the Ravens have taken their guaranteed offers from the table. I wonder what sucker GM will make a play for the recently oft injured LJ now? Looks like Action Jackson has come up empty. His fam and false friends led him down a deadend path. Flattery isn't fatal unless you inhale.
"Bulls make money, bears make money, pigs get slaughtered" is an old investment industry saying that warns against being excessively greedy.
