It feels easy to be swayed by the Seahawks in the Super Bowl with the way their offense has almost effortlessly piled on the points and a defense that is showing some swagger that had been missing since the Legion of Boom days. Let's not also forget special teams which has been a huge factor in getting to where they are now. An all-round solid team. Seahawk's road to the Super Bowl looked more impressive by comparison to the Patriots where it was a fortuitous yet uphill battle of attrition, with an offense that struggled, but did just enough to help the team get a win and a defense that stepped it up. Perhaps the Patriots defense when thrown into the fire might be better than we give them credit for. Not to take anything away from their fantastic regular season, easy schedule or not, the Patriot Way is back and does have shades of 2001 all over again and that's what scares me a bit. Throw analytics and DVOA out the window the regular season feels like it was over long ago. The Seahawks are statistical champs on paper, but it will have to be proven on the biggest stage. Winner takes all. Pressure can do some funny things and get the best of the best. It's not all about the X's and O's, but the intangibles will come into play here and I feel like the Patriots have it. The Pats wouldn't be in this position if it weren't for Mike Vrabel. He's got his team believing and those playoff experiences will only benefit his young QB a bit more. Vrabel's preparation will be invaluable in the Super Bowl. Vrabel is 6-2 SUATS with 2 weeks to prepare, 3-1 SUATS in the dog role when with extra prep. He did lose a BYE week game earlier this season to the Bills by only 4 but didn't cover. He will have his team prepared. The other intangible is the luck factor which would be things like turnovers, and big plays. I will be shocked if the Pats defense doesn't come away with a few takeaways as they have ratcheted up a notch. It will be interesting because the Seahawks have taken better care of the ball as of late, but it's something to keep an eye on because they're notorious for it this season and hope that bad habits don't come into play on the biggest stage. I think the Patriots will put up a dogfight but fall just short of re-enacting the first Patriot dynasty. Then again maybe it will be 2001 all over again I wouldn't be shocked. Patriots +4.5(-108)
