I'll probably get bored of this quickly but I'll give this a shot for a little while. Will post pix plus analysis.
Orlando/Indian over 188
I love the first day of any season in any sport because the reality and the perception are often wildly different and you can find extreme value in a lot of lines. First of all, I expect totals to be up this year because of a number of factors. The rims in all of basketball have gotten softer (not as soft as in Europe, but getting there) and this will result in more free throws being made and more lucky bounces. Secondly, the subtle rule changes that have been made over the past 3 years will continue to contribute points to the games. We will see more delay of game technicals, flagrant fouls, and defensive 3 second violations as the league tries to improve the aesthetics of the game.
In this matchup, we have combination of factors that I think make this total 4-6 points too low. The Pacers are going to be putting emphasis on running and scoring early in the clock to utilize Paul George, who probably hasn't shown us his ceiling in scoring potential and it's a good thing to throw up a lot of shots when you have such a solid offensive rebounding group. I expect the Pacers to morph from a primarily defensive team to an uptempo scoring team. On the other side, I love this kid from Indiana and I think he will be rookie of the year and average 18 points per game and be near the league leaders in 3pt shooting
