BB, I'm glad to see you're staying off this game. Every season there are teams that rub us the wrong way and though it's not always fun, the best thing is to just stay away from those teams. I have felt since the start of the season and play-offs that the spurs "have it coming" as you say.

I know a lot of people are criticizing Pop for the hack a Deandre, but I think Pop knows this year that he does not have the mix of talent and DRIVE that he has had in previous years. He has been very open about the fact that they would not be where they are if not for Mills going nuts. It shouldn't be a secret to anyone at this point, the spurs cannot guard these freak PF athletes like Blake and AD. I think the press conference after game 6 was an act of desperation as you say to try and light a fire under his guys.

Call me crazy, but in a series where the LAC have struggled to hit from beyond the arc I could see Hedo hitting a big shot, or Hawes' range giving the spurs' bigs trouble. Realistically, we would only need a 3 from each of them and a few boards to supplement the production of Glen Davis and I wouldn't be surprised to see a bigger contributionthan that. Hedo has been on some deep runs and hit some big shots in his career and Doc has said for months that he thought Hedo still had that in him. We may find out tonight.

Despite the spurs being the defending champs and the rockets starring the "other" MVP with Harden, I still think the preferred match up in the western conference finals for the NBA is Warriors vs Clippers. Battle of the Baby Faces.

Similarily, I think we could see Washington upset Atlanta in the second round to get a Cleveland vs Washington Eastern Conference Finals. LBJ vs Pierce. Irving vs Wall. These two teams have a very strong budding rivalry but I'll leave that for later.

Good Luck to anyone and everyone who decides to make a play tonight. I urge you, play or not, to watch this game though because it should be one of the best of the year.

Good luck, tonight, HC. And yes, I can see Haws or the Turk coming out of nowhere to make contributions that tilt the game in LA's favor. It's always the guys who you didn't account for who can do that to you. Knowing Doc, though, he will stick with the starters for the most part, unless fouls etc force his hand. Although in Boston. the Celtics won some huge playoff games with bench guys who came out of nowhere. So Doc is more prone to trust his bench at home than on the road (as we saw in the last game), and it has payed dividends before.

I'm sticking with my large Spurs series bet because I refused to take the Clippers +375 after game 5.

I expect a huge game from either Manu or Green. If one of these two can start lighting it up from downtown, it will open up the Spurs offense a lot. I expect a Spurs offense with great ball movement and open shots tonight. They've been in these huge game situations and I believe Pop will have a good gameplan to slow Paul and Griffin. I just hope Pop doesn't start the hack-a-Jordan again when they have all momentum, no matter the score. Forget the percentages if they have the momentum.

I hope you're right, can't always be wrong right?

    Thanks for the write-up,

You definitely have the refs in your favor. Capers and McCutchen somewhat anti-Clipper.

Yes, I noticed that. In fact, Capers was the ref in game 6 last year, when the Clippers got jobbed by OKC.

Oh, and the movie takes place in LA, with the hometown heros (even if McClane is a NY cop) defeating the international bad guys (i.e., the Spurs).

Frankly, I'm not betting this game because I have a very strong rooting interest. I want to see the Clippers tear the heart out of this spurs team and hold it up for everyone to see. I want to see them drive a stake through their heart and kill them, once and for all. This team, and their megalomaniac of a coach, have driven me to the point of insanity this year. They have been the epitome of a jekyll and hyde team and I'm through with them. Let's count all the ways they've choked away home court by losing games they had no business losing:

    1) Losing to the Knicks on the road.

    2) Losing to the Cavs at home. Up by 10 with 2 to play

    3) Losing to the putrid Mavs at Dallas, near the end of the season.

    4) Losing the the Pelicans in the final game of the season.

    5) Losing to the Clippers in games 4 and 6 at home.

And yes, they have also been equally resilient, but when you are given so many chances to close the deal and you don't, there is something wrong with you. Exactly what that is, I don't know, but this team is no longer trustworthy.

I said in my game 6 write-up that the Spurs could not afford the give the Clippers a shot at redemption (at home) and I'm sticking by it. Pop has turned into a madman with his hack-a-Jordan and it backfired once and almost twice (game 2). His calling his team soft is an act of desperation because (as you put it) coaches don't resort to that unless their team got destroyed by an opponent. He is trying to get that extra juice out of his guys because he will need all the juice he can get to beat a team whose starters (overall) are much better and younger than his.

Finally, the NBA is all about star power and I have not seen one commercial with Duncan, Manu or Parker on TV during the playoffs. The Clippers are the sexier team and I pray to god that the refs put a giant shaft up Pop's arse during this game. And since you started your writeup with an analogy from a film, let me end mine on that note. In Unforgiven, there is great scene where the young gunslinger tries to justify has act of murder by telling William Munny (played by Eastwood) that the bad guys had it coming to them. To which Munny replies by saying, "We all have it coming kid." Well, the Spurs, the old gunslingers from the West, also have it coming to them.

Oh god, let it be tonight!

Touché BB. All a write up on its own.

The clips are just short of taking this one, and it's by a nose. A bounce here or there and they could take it but to lay what is now three points? No way.

Never saw unforgiven. Might do so now.

And nice to see you know your stuff about Die Hard as well.

Spurs failed in all those spots. But they aren't quite done. This isn't  umbuntu doc is coaching.

Didn't even read the write up. You are waaaay over thinking this. Clippers will win. Did you not see them out play the spurs last time in LA? That was a must win game for the spurs and clippers simply beat them. If it weren't for the refs handing it to the spurs clippers would of easily won that game.

Another is the stats. Clippers never lose 3 games in a row at home. So they will win tonight.

That's my write up. That's how the true pros do it. They don't over think it. But go ahead, take the spurs if you want. Just saying, this one has clippers written all over it.

Also the spread move to -3 also gives it away to me in this situation.

Also the NBA doesn't want spurs to advance. Will be a much more exciting series with clippers and golden state.

No reason to over think this, game will be handed to clippers tonight. And clippers obviously the better starting 5, and Turk is pretty good player. Better than Davis. Same with Hawes. This is a no brainer. I also think clippers win by 10+ here tonight

You're crazy. They COULD hit the big shot. I don't bet on COULD. I bet on far greater probabilities. You want to bank on Hedo and Davis on th clips bench, that is your right.
