Screw student loans, just another way for banks to make interest and profit by selling and reselling. And they are only a little better than the car title loan scavengers with their penalties and interest. Im still paying on a student loan from 1990! 24 friggin years ago! Avoid them at all cost if you can.

Ya see, I eish I could focus on just paying for school but I thought it would be a good idea to indulge on a home with my now fiancée and have her dad be a co signer. So now here I am with a house but no college education yet, and I'm a freakin restraunt server.

Before you bet, have you considered studying abroad? I'm Irish myself, live in the US now, but I am educated back home, and to say it's far cheaper than the ridiculous fees you lot over her have to pay is an understatement.

    wife to be??

father in law "to be" co signing home note??

your tuition money problem will seem very very small after a few years with your wife to be AND HER PARENTS. That's a bad move, but hey if you like another man taking care of your wife, well your going to have it made. Could I get a tea refill please?

Unless you're attending the school of hard knocks, I suggest you do not follow up with your plan of betting your way to covering tuition.  Too much can go wrong that is out of your control.

So are you in a position where your parents will not help? If they cosign for you getting a student loan will not be an issue or they can take out a parents plus loan themselves. If they feel you should be responsible for paying for your own education then I can see how you may be in a sticky situation and I feel for you and wish you the best of luck.

It is your responsibility though, it's not your parents. If I knew my kid was wagering to go to school, I wouldn't want to finance his education.

your tuition money problem will seem very very small after a few years with your wife to be AND HER PARENTS. That's a bad move, but hey if you like another man taking care of your wife, well your going to have it made. Could I get a tea refill please?

I agree, though I don't want to be negative to this guy.

You really need to think about the choices you are making, they won't lead you down a positive road.

Yeah, or listen to me. Would have been up $300.

    Who you got today?

I'm just curious but I would stop right now and go to your job and save some money. There are lots of scholarships that go unclaimed, small ones no one thinks to look for. I would get with your counselor and see what you can find.

    Good luck.

The problem with gambling is there's no sure thing and there's never an 'easy' way to get money. You inevitably lose at least in the long term. THis problem would still be relevant in your case because what happens when you win your $3,000 ?

There's a couple of logical choices

    1. You use the $3,000 for your tuition and stop betting.

    2. You gamble your $3,000 before you pay tuition off which results in either
    A. Losing your $3,000
    B. Winning more, but probably being temporarily up and the losing the remainder later, which then only puts you back in this Sam's position 6 months from now.

Do you see your predicament? Even if you are capable of gambling and winning to pay this $3,000 now, there's no realistic way that this cycle is sustainable to fund your education.
