Tease? That’s where you lost all of us. Playing teasers in the long run is a good way to ensure you will lose.

I don’t consider teasers “buying points” in a traditional sense. I love teasers (mainly NFL and CFB).

    Man city,

You will never open your book and find a pick that’s “too easy”.

Last night many opened their books and thought they saw such a line with the Celtics -2.5 over the Nets. Just win the game with that line! The nets bombed them right out of the gate and the Celts never had a chance.

So the tough lines are good to bet and the “easy” ones should probably be left in the dust bin. I love this line.

Um, so you skipped over the part where I said I have perfected it then? I'll only give one hint. The higher the total, the more perfect it is.

Lakers are generally a public team and the public will surely be chasing the Lakers in this spot vs a losing Bulls team. Lakers as 7 pt home favs without Lebron is a recipe for disaster. I don't even see them winning this game. If interested I have a writeup on why Im backing the Bulls but if possible I'd like to know why you are backing the Lakers?

Im actually heading to make my bet immediately after work. Would appreciate your insight.

If ever the Lakers needed a win this early in the season, it would be Tuesday against the Bulls. A loss could very well turn the season into the kind of fiasco some in the front office would characterize as drastic.

I once saw Ben Wallace shoot a free throw, hit the side of the backboard and get no rim.

I can’t for the life of me understand how Yao Ming, a man who is one of the biggest giants to walk the earth, can shoot 83% for his career and guys who look like dwarfs next to him can’t shoot 50%.

Sp you read only title of thread and not post #1... ?!?

I skimmed through it and somehow missed that part. I like the angle but the Lakers getting beat by the two bottom teams in the league seems very possible right now. I can see them covering the spread in a big underdog roll. I think the line reflects their record and seems about right considering the public love for the Lakers. Nobody how much they lose people chase this team to win. Still kinda early but I see 97 percent on the Lakers went from -6.5 to 7 in one sportsbook and that could be the reason for this line moving up in any way. This line wont go much higher imo. 7.5 max and I doubt it gets there.

Lebron was said to be out another week and that was 5 days ago. Its possible he can be back for the OKC matchup. We cant call all three of those games losses. He will almost surely be back for 2 of those after the Bulls win tonight. Not sure whats with this Lakers pick. Should be Bulls or nothing but thats your own choice. I dont see any reason to back them and there isnt anything here that should motivate anyone to back them other than some comparisons and the angle of Lakers hitting rock bottom. Cmon guys. Shed some light on this a little. We're all still in the dark on this play.

What’s funny is that he read Scal’s post and replies

Apparently someone is not satisfied with the current write up.

We believe we are being goaded to bet it, only to lose (and many times we DO lose with those 'too good to be true' lines). This one is perfect. I wanted to see the Lakers as a 6.5 pt favorite right under the classic key number of 7 (not to high or low), but still, to the sharps, a spread that represents a gross overvaluing of a Laker team that has lost 5 of 7 and lost 6 of 7 ATS.So the sharps will jump on the Bulls. But I say go square and take the Lakers right now. That is why I posted this at 10pm the night before right when the line came out. Why? They just got their as*es handed to them at home by a team that had a winning percentage under .200.But that last game was not as easy as perceived. With Lebron out the Lakers have been lazily wading through games, the spotlight off them, their team leader obviously not there on the court to chastise them for their woeful play. The Cavs in their one visit to LA had this game circled for a LONG time. So whether Lebron is on the court or not, they wanted to bring everything last night and they did. So the loss really isn't all that shocking. If you want total dejection personified, you have to watch this:https://fadeawayworld.net/2019/01/14/lakers-look-absolutely-miserable-after-latest-lost-to-cavs/Grief and despair, right down to the general manager...So for this year, with Lebron on this team playing or not, this is ROCK BOTTOM imo. Much like the Eagles Saints 48-7 thrashing. And the Rock Bottom Angle needs one of two requirements for the next game ATS:1) Play a very poor team on the road so the line is light;OR2) Play a good team at home highly motivated.1 is preferable to 2. And 1 can be switched for home to road if the line is right. This line of Lakers -6.5 translates to Bulls +.5 at home. That is the perfect line. It's asking the Lakers to win straight up away (or win in a mildly dominant fashion at home). And the parenthetical is very reasonable in my eyes under the classic key number of 7.You just had the WORST team in the league snap a 12 game losing steak against you now you have the second worst team coming in with a 7 game losing streak. This is and always has been a proud Laker franchise (so much so you even see friggin Rob Pelinka hanging his head in that clip, this losing permeating all levels), and not one but TWO losses to the two worst teams at home, on a combined 19 game losing streak, is unacceptable.I look for LA to come out strong and win by 12-14 making 6.5 more than attractive.Line will go up if you see this late. (I think, I've been wrong many times in that regard).LAKERS -6.5 over BULLS

As fate would have it another Lakers Cavs game immediately came to mind when capping this game:

On 2/6/2014, with an awful Lakers team at the time, Robert Sacre picked up his sixth foul with 3:32 left to play.

    With only 4 players left:
    Steve Blake
    Jordan Farmar
    Wesley Johnson
    Ryan Kelly

Sacre had to stay in and be assessed a foul and a tech for each foul.

Lakers STILL won by 11 over the Cavs.

The look on Kyrie’s face after the loss was very much the same after the Lakers loss to the Cavs (cosmic revenge even though no players are the same?).

Using the Rock Bottom angle I backed the Cavs to bounce back over a solid Wizards team as 10 pt dogs the next game. They won outright.

    The point:

This angle is a good one.

The psychological bottoming out was captured in, as fate would have it, another Cavs Lakers game 5 years ago.

The Rock Bottom team won outright handily the following game.

This is capping 101. Tie similar occurrences together through human psychology in your caps. That can’t be quantified.

OMG trying to handicap the lakers motivation? GL with that.

Sure its a proud franchise bla bla bla but the lakers are simply AWFUL without lebron. I dont care if this squad is hitting blue meth before the game, they will still suck no matter how fired up they are.

missing is the bulls motivation...a rare chance for a W. maybe they play better than their usual loser-selves in this spot.

sure the lakers will be up DD, then hit the cruise control & win by 5 or something just to make a mockery of their backers.

I only wish the books were giving us the rock-bottom prices on the roc-bottom Lakers and not the inflated crap they throw out there when LBJ is playing:)

If theres one thing we've all learned over the past five years watching the Lakers is that even when they need to win, they somehow LOSE. ID SAY THEYRE THE #1 LOSING TEAM IN MUST WIN GAMES. BUT GOOD LUCK ANYWAY.
