World War Z

Wife wants to watch it tonight on demand. I've heard mixed results. Yay or nay?

Nay.... it was exactly what I was afraid it would be...  an average at best story with a big name lead covering up what it lacked in everything else.

haven't seen it BUT from trailers I have seen, I would agree with BWS77. I have seen other posts with a similar comment. also in my Movies you saw in September thread, Jaysvdubwhat commented "World War Z - meh zombie movies are pretty lame"

I think an excellent PPV alternative would be Now You See Me (2013). watched the other night and it was one of the BEST mixes of action, mystery and "plot twists" that I have seen in a long time. check out my writeup in the Movies you saw in September thread. I rate it    of three.

A zombie movie rated PG13. No blood,no tearing,no head shots everyone runs around and the zombies look like J Crew models with some bad complexions.Your wife wants to look at Brad Pitt,Rent Fight Club.

I enjoyed it, but then again, i am also a Walking Dead fanboy. 

Got to see Now You See Me on DVD ,This hackned piece of studio sh*t was tearfully bad.A crime caper by magicans and All the illusions were CGI and you had lead characters of the kid who played Mark Zuckerberg(Social Network), the crazy sister who bangs Von(The Wedding Crashers), Woody Harralson in a bad wig, and some kid who is missing for half the film.The dialogue was highschool and so was the "acting". All I needed to know was the credits showed that there were 5 studio "writers" for screenplay. This was bullsh*t by committee.

obviously we have different "tastes" in movies. the critics also "threw rock's" with a 50% on Rotten Tomatoes BUT the audience rating was 72% AND was a box office success with the public AND has a sequel going into production

At least six friends saw it and all said it sucked.  Friends are usually pretty good at judging movies so I haven't even considered it until LeRinks rave reviews.

What we are willing to tolerate isn't nessessarily different tastes. A bad movie is a movie that is bad and if audience that goes to a bad movie and 72% say I like that bad movie we are already sampling an uncritical herd.That bad movies make money and obviously a bad movie where the studio put NO money into actors,script,production,or fx ,the threshold is very low so there is no surprise that if the studio can get enough people to bite the 1st sh*t sandwich -may I have another.MGoBlue23 was looking for a movie and I didn't want him to walk in blind and if he was like some folks and wanted to pony for a bad movie I just wanted him awake/aware.

even vampires look down on zombies--ugly and zero personality

I was insulted and dismayed that any adult would give a 3for3 rating for this obvious shine job and while I tend to have no slack for people you know not wence they speak,I was really worried that MGoBlue would sign on based on your glowing shineoff.

I will give you the last word on the subject as you seem to be the type person that needs that

Ugh. Wife is a big zombie-movie type gal. We ended up watching it and I only had one reaction after it was done — "meh."

Coulda been worse/better.

Blue-if you think about it this was a zombie chick-flick.No ripping/tearing of flesh,no brain splatter,a cute father(Pitt) running for the safety of the family from a army of off-putting threats.Doesn't really advance the zombie mythology PG-13.

how is there good acting by zombies?
