There was an original script back in the '80's for Top Gun 2 with Cruise and all. It involved Cruise as a teacher at the Top Gun academy and a female pilot being the "top" student like he was back in the forst movie....Cruise admitly asked too much at the time and the navy did'nt want anybody filming near because at the time new technology and new aircraft were taking in.
I don't know about now for a Top Gun 2, didn't hear anything about it.

I have the perfect script...
now 25 years later, Cruise is an instructor at the Top Gun academy, along with Val kilmer...
Gooses son has grown up been raised by Cruise after Meg Ryan passes away shortly after Goose. He become a pilot and Maverick raises him as his own...
Cruise has a favorite in the new class of the program, but what he doesnt find out until the middle of the movie is that he is actually his love child from kelly magilis....
in the end, during the climax battle sceen, he must chose between the son hes never known and the boy he raised as his own.....
Throw in some hot young actors to play the boys, some love interests for them, some hot ladies for Tom and Val and you got probably the biggest grossing movie of all time....
almost forgot....at least one gay volleyball sceen....

It was my attempt at humor. Just becuz the scene in the original is very homoerotic.....sweaty, shirtless guys slapping each other....its simply for the ladies

Yeah I am with Train on this one... I don't care if you love Tom Cruise or hate him but you need to go this weekend and rent Top Gun. It is perhaps one of the better movies I have ever seen. Plus it will give you a better perspective of Val Kilmer. He really changed from his Top Gun/Real Genius years and what roles he currently plays.
