Watched SRTS last night and the Genesis story. Not a big Genesis fan of their early stuff. Had older cousins that were into Genesis.
VH1 Classic is having some good things coming up in the future. They also made a movie about John Lennon's early life pre US invasion. Nothing I did'nt already know. Check it out. I'll let you know when it comes up again.

Can't believe I spelled GILMOURS' name wrong..............
I'm partial to WYWH but Animals is a great album. Waters plays "Pigs on a wing (pt.1)" followed by "Dogs" in his current show.............& it's excellent. Jon Carin plays the acoustic & vocals on Dogs.
"Meddle" is a relatively obscure album but has some nice play on it. I bought it to use "One of these days" for a soundtrack to a video & was pleasantly surprised by the whole disc.

I felt it was sketchy............maybe too condensed. I've read articles & heard interviews with Roger Waters that told of their experiences in younger years, & this doc really just scratched the surface, although you get the gist of what happened. Not sure that many know Syd passed away last year...........

There was a great interview with Roger in one of the Guitar magazines this month. He spoke about the band just not picking up Syd for some concert dates at the end of this run. Saying they prefered to do the gigs without him.

I've often wondered how PF would have turned out had he reigned himself back in & continued with the band. Seems he was considered a genious by most around him, but there's no denying that Rogers writing took them to stardom, along with Davids writing/playing.
I'm going to the Vancouver show in June whether I find someone to go with or not.
He died last July (age 60)...............RIP Syd

Just watched the VH1C story of the making of "Dark side of the Moon"..................brilliant. These guys were so far ahead of the time. With Alan Parsons mixing the album....the use of the newest synthesizer.........friggin amazing. Let's not forget, this was made in 1972-73............no computers, no automation.
Stellar..............

Syd Barret pretty much started Floyd in their creative direction as most of you know albeit through the influence of major recreationals....of course Roger Waters took over the creative aspects of P Floyd after Syd got kicked out/left.
Rolling Stone mag had a cover dedicated to him and great article that it would be worth going into their back issue section (they'll mail it for a very reasonable price) and picking it up. Trust me. Very well worth it. Moved recently, so it's in a box somewhere, but I'll dig it up and post the exact issue. It was last Summer sometime.
I also agree that David Gilmour is a way underrated guitarist.
Like both his and Roger Waters' solo stuff a lot.
