I finally got around to seeing it. Good movie with some great acting. Christian Bale solidified himself as one of the best actors in hollywood with that performance. Simply amazing. A lot of times I wonder what the hell people at the academy are smoking when they make their picks, but this one was a no-brainer.
It was also very funny. The scene where Dickey (Bale) is in the crackhouse and his family comes to pick him up was hilarious. When he jumped out the window, tried to hop the fence, started swinging punches, laid out his stepdad, and then Dickey and his mom calmly walk to the limo while Micky yells to his mother something about coming to pick her husband off the ground had me laughing so hard I was crying.
Also the “MTV girl” scenes were hilarious as well.
