Wow I just peep the midnite show. It was a great movie. I must have watched T2 30 or so times on laserdisc when I was a kid over and over again so you can call me Terminator fan. Good action sequences and I like the new robots. What you guys think? I do have one question I need some clarification on. If This movie is the future, how did John Conner and his father who is a teenager in the same time and place?

His father his the soldier sent in the past in the first movie. He slept with sarah connors and she gave birth to john in the '90s. He was sent to protect her mother from a terminator that was sent to kill sarah. Have you seen the first movie? You'd had your answer already. LINK
Terminator salvation his the first of three movies that should come out. We will see his father being send in the past to protect his mother and catch up with the first Terminator movie made.

To answer Ace's question. Sam did a good job of acting his role, it wasnt spectacular given the role that he played was pretty much emotionless, death row inmate- robot-human prototype.

This was a great movie, i think the references from the first two were perfectly placed.
for example when the half human/half machine man and Reese go to the store for food and meet the old lady. that is the same 7-11 that Sarah Conner stopped at in the first movie for gas, when she was recording those tapes. Also i might be wrong but i think in the beginning when Reese and the kid meet up with the half human for the first time at the factory, i think that was the same factory that the first terminator died in.
i like how John Connor was falling up the stairs as the terminator was after him, just like in the first one where Reese is falling.

Saw it this weekend, it was ok. A bunch of the cheeseball things the director did at the end of the movie really took a lot away from this flick though. Moon is hot though, bonus points for that.

Like at first I thought how can John Conner not know about Half-Man/Half-Machine Terminators when he has meet a few of them as a child. You kinda have to remember that he had not met them yet because he has not sent his father back in time yet.
BUT....why did his mom not expain all this to him in her tapes that he was listening to? And if was listening to those tapes from his mom she must have already lived through the events of T1 and T2 right?? When she was making those tapes she was already being hunted down by the first Terminator and kinda knew what was going on already right?

How about the use of the song "You Could Be Mine" by Guns-n-Roses.
That song was played by John Conner in T2 on his Moped and brought back for this film as well.
