Agreed Louis CK def one of my favs. You have to see Shameless. I'm a big fan of old school standup (Cosby, Carlin, Pryor, Murphy) but here is some great stuff I've seen lately and then went out and purchased.
Ron White: Tater Salad
D.L. Hughley: Unapolagetic
Jim Gaffigan: Beyond The Pale
Daniel Tosh: Completely Serious
Doug Stanhope: No Refunds
Jeff Dunham: Spark of Insanity
Katt Williams: Pimp Chronicles
Dane Cook: Vicious Circle
Dave Chappelle: For What Its Worth
Louis CK: Shameless
I can go on but will stop there. These are all worth owning. I like buying standup. Unlike movies, you can watch them a number of times and still enjoy.

onerush, huge into the classics also and thanks for the list. Number of them I don't recognize but I'll get to know 'em.
Think I did see Shameless. Is that the last one where CK talks about his kids when they were babies and how he would win in a fight against all of 'em?

Christopher Titus had a good comedy special on Showtime. It's all comedy about his family issues, not much political. Some of it was on youtube a couple months ago, don't know if it's still there...
I missed Chris Rock's last special. I think it was called "Don't shoot the messenger". He's the only one left where I'll pay for the DVD. In my opinion, the baton has passed from George Carlin to Chris Rock.
