Sir Roger was a good, but not great, James Bond. I mean, a tough act to follow, that's for sure (Sean Connery are you kidding-tough to beat the original)
I'll let you read what I wrote in GF, and come back here for additional discussion.
LALD was a terrific start, and View To A Kill with Duran Duran doing the theme song, was a great end to his era.
Until then, I am both Shaken and Stirred, farewell, Mr. Bond, you will be missed.........................

somewhat agree BUT Sir Roger brought some GREAT "dry humor" comedy to the franchise that was lacking with Connery. I also REALLY like the "Modern Bond's" Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig and think THEY have been excellent. Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), Casino Royale (2006) and Spectre (2015) are now three of my all time Bond favorite films

the Hollywood consensus is that Carly Simon's Nobody Does it Better from The Spy Who Loved Me is THE greatest Bond film theme BUT my personal favorite is STILL Live and Let Die from that movie by Paul McCartney and Wings >>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swVoXHVW-jI "When Ya Got a Job to Do Ya Gotta Do It Well. Ya Gotta Give the Other Fellow HELL!!!"

......just not a Carly Simon fan, but still a great tune. Especially after Bond skis off a cliff and pops the Union Jack chute!
I love the violin intro to 'You Only Live Twice' and Duran Duran performing live before the Royals before the premier of AVTAK kicked behind (via recorded television)..
With Brosnan and Craig, hell, I even liked Timothy Dalton, it's just difficult to put Moore way up there. He did last the longest, so he points for keeping the franchise going during some whacky years.

Ya the opening ski chase followed by Bond escaping by parachute off the cliff in The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) is also rated one of THE best James Bond movie openings although my personal favorite it is the boat chase on the Thames River in The World Is Not Enough (1999)

his Live and Let Die (1973) as James Bond is STILL one of my all time favorite Bond films along with Moonraker (1979) RIP, Sir Roger
Live and Let Die (1973) was on the other night and I usually can NOT pass it up just for the boat chase thru the Louisiana Bayous with Clifton James as Sheriff J.W. Pepper which may be THE funniest sequence in a Bond movie EVER

Clifton James was also excellent again as Sheriff J.W. Pepper in the Bond film The Man With The Golden Gun (1974). also played Chicago White Sox owner Charles Comiskey in Eight Men Out (1988) and had a small but memorable bit part as the Naval Operating Base Norfolk Chief Master at Arms in The Last Detail (1973) and as the "floor walker" Carr in Cool Hand Luke (1967)
