Richard Linklater's new movie Boyhood

I'm blown away by this movie. Filmed over 12 years and you get to see all the actors age through the years. I've never seen anything like this, most ingenious film I've seen in a while.

just saw it last night.  i'm a big fan of his to begin with but this was exceptional even by his standards.

What is the movie about?

Based on odds at online sportbooks, BOYHOOD should win academy awards for best director, supporting actress and picture.

if you've seen some of his other movies, it's similar.  a movie about people and relationships, his philosophy on life, etc.   but what makes this different from his other movies and any other movie ever made is, as count said, he filmed it over about 12 years.  the main character starts as a kid and it goes all the way up until he goes to college.  i think they filmed it a few days out of each year and kind of figured out the script as they went.

i would think this is a lock for best picture.  and probably some pretty amazing editing.

director will get the oscar no doubt and Keaton has a good shot at best actor but not best picture material for me

Other than the plot that he actually took 12 years to make this, i thought each segment/period of ages s story was boring/over used family story.  Editing is great though.

3 out of 5 for me.

People actually liked this bore fest?

I love the concept of making a movie over 12 years, but the story itself was boring and far too long.  So much potential, I wish he had done more with it.  But I think he'll win for Director just because of the gimmick factor.
