review: The Departed

Alright... we all know that Marty Scorsese is a brilliant director so it is no great surprise that this film has generous sweeping camera movement, periodic mise-en-scene, and frequently intimate framing. However, what is often overlooked when talking about directors is their ability to draw great performances from their actors. Scorsese nails it in this movie. The cast is talented anyway, but it is rare that you see such a collection of fine acting even in a star studded cast such as this. They were all on and when you mix superior performances with good plot and fantastic directing you have yet another gem from one of the great American directors. Oh yeah… and it is also a riveting and enjoyable piece of entertainment. A must see…
