Pi is an enormous film for many reasons. One thing I liked about this picture, in particular, is that it is a prime example of the ability of sound to enhance mood in film. This is not a new idea as directors such as Hitchcock and later Lynch did this as well, but Aronofsky continues this concept with a modern spin. Also, this movie (much like Go and Run Lola Run) prove that electronica music works well in cinema. I am not a fan of this genre of music really, but it can really drive images on the screen. The chromatic black and white is also VERY cool! These devices are coupled with some good acting and a fascinating story. A must see.
