It is beginning to occur to me that Clint Eastwood is one of those directors that always seems to allow his fingerprint to be reflected clearly within the mood of his films. Changeling, like others that he has directed, moves with subtlety and quiet strength. The story is tragic and interesting enough as it is, but Angelina Jolie is quite good in her role as Christine Collins and her performance wholly contains the aforementioned subtlety. The movie does move at its own pace, which is slow at times, but I chalk that up to the mood and didn’t mind all that much. This is a straight forward telling of a fascinating true story.
