""Under the present system, the FCC has very few tools with which to protect consumers' interests," FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski said in a letter to Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., in a letter Kerry's office released Friday. "Current law does not give the agency the tools necessary to prevent service disruptions." this is a Monopoly and should have resonable federal regulation OR the Public is gonna get SCREWED
The law heavily favors broadcasters in such negotiations because they have the ability to black out signals and subscribers are hard to win back if they switch TV signal provider. once again, a Monopoly abuse
"Media interests have every right to play hardball," Sen. Kerry said in a statement Sunday. "But I believe it's incumbent upon those of us in public policy to see if there's a way to help protect consumers and avoid the now regularly scheduled, frequent games of high-stakes chicken that leave consumers in the crossfire." TRUE STATEMENT

"During the last three years, the BBB received 53,000 complaints about satellite TV services: about 39,000 for DirecTV and about 13,000 for DISH Network."
I happen to know that the Direc-TV complaint number is more like 100k+ just with the BBB's El Segundo office which covers Direc-TV corporate. I went thru them about Direc-tv's outragous early termination fees just 24 hours after activation and got an E-mail back saying Dired-TV was willing to wave it, probably because I have raised so much HELL about their tech being inferior to Dish-TV.
will see what happens when I actually call Direc-TV to cancel after this weekend

cool feature i jsut found if ur watching a movie u can check the whole cast and ton of other shit
and their scoreboard on the sports channels is definately handy esp IF your looking for a game BUT in my case it doesn't remove the fact that they LIED calling their "double play just like picture-in-picture" and about other tech features that are inferior to Dish-TV.
IF I had a sportsbar, I would definately use Direc-TV BUT for home use, I still think Dish-TV is superior. another thing that totaly pissed me off is their complete arrogance.

"got 'er done" with the return to Dish-TV and they even gave me a bunch of "new customer" deals. good to have my receiver internal Picture-In-Picture back along with a number of other tech features WAY superior to Direc.
thanks to the BBB, Direc people didn't try to slam their $450 cancellation fee on me BUT I will reserve judgement on THAT until I see my next credit card statement because it seems like their various departments DON'T communicate with each other.
