I saw it today and thought it was very good. I think people who say it's overrated or not a good movie are people who just want to be different. They don't want to say something is good that everyone else thinks is good. I am not a sheep and do not like things that most people like, but I thought it was very good. Not the best movie ever, but very good.

Movie effects were outstanding, arguably best ever. However, as far as the story goes - boring. We've seen it over and over again. I get the message already that big bad business is always taking advantage of the disadvantaged. He's planning 2 sequels, I can hardly wait to see where this goes next. I wouldn't go see it again or watch it on tv when it gets there.

like I said before in the thread there have been quite a few movies that re-release, usually before they come to DVD. But this one I think was warranted because there were a few people (me included) who never got around to seeing it in 3D. I mean after it left theaters before, if you don't get a 3D TV and if HBO isn't going to air it in 3D, you are shit out of luck to see it in 3D. There have been quite a few movies that have done this, Titanic was re-released before it came out on DVD, some do it to kind of remind the Oscar committee of their movies, some just do it to make more money.

well I said for some movies do it for the Oscar committee, obviously this wasn't the case for Avatar as they have already had the Oscars that Avatar was involved in and they won 3 Oscars. They mostly won for visual things. But again a lot of people hate movies or say they hate them to be different, not because that's their opinion, but because they just want to be different.

My feelings exactly. Special effects and imagery were incredible and it was worth seeing in 3D, once. The story is nothing new. I read somewhere that the sequel will be nothing like the first and will focus on the underwater area of Pandora rather than the rainforests.
