Assault in The RIng- It was a good movie...spent most of the time on Resto. to me these were my observations
Resto was so full of shit, first he knew nothing, then in the corner he
figured it outm then he knew from the beginning. 1st he felt bad about
it, then he wanted to destroy him.
I dont blame Collins father
for not wanting to see him. Collins ex-wife kind of forgave him or said
to move on. That was impressive. I would not have done the same
They should put Resto and Lewis in a ring and puts casts on their hands and have them go at it
Good info on what was in the bottles
Good job by this guy, obviously focused on Resto the whole time.
I
found it sad that both of Restos kids were older than what Billy
Collins was when he died. That fight just destroyed him (Collins) and everything he had

I will agree with just about everything you said BUT it was pretty obvious from the BEGINNING that Resto knew that the gloves were altered. you can't tell me an experienced prize fighter couldn't tell that when he was wearing them. THEN they later come up with the bit about the "putting on the foil" plaster?
as for Panama Lewis, the complete disdain he showed for Resto while talking to other fight people when he was in that NYC bar watching a fight on TV, shows what a complete and total SCUMBAG he is.
and I guess that prize fights aren't the only thing FIXED in New York. I couldn't BELIEVE that all the Collins families lawsuits got thrown out.
my only real complaint about this documentary is that it was about a half hour too long. they could have completed the story in an hour. there were times when it seemed like they were re-hashing OVER and OVER.

I find "Drath also stumbled upon many well-known trainers, who told him it was common for plaster to be put on fighters’ knuckles. Drath didn’t include that in the documentary that will be on HBO, but he did include it in the extras on the DVD that will be released in September." an interesting statement

I agree with that Rinkrat , that Resto knew the whole time, but I was just saying his story was 1st he didnt know anything , then he knew during the fight, then he knew before.....
The fact the lawsuits got tossed was mindboggling

btw, the wife and I watched Appaloosa sunday night. was a decnt western BUT I wouldn't pay to see it and it didn't have as much "heavey ordnance" as I expected from the trailers. Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen and Jeremy Irons did a good job BUT I fail to see the attraction anyone would have for Renée Zellweger. she mumbles her lines throughout the movie just like most other films I have seen her in.

The Incredible Hulk (the ed norton one) I liked it. Also enjoyed the cameos first when they showed Bill Bixby on a TV show he was watching and then Lou Ferrigno's scene later. Pretty decent movie.

The Taking Of Pelham 123 - Really good movie, everything you'd expect from a Denzel movie. Travolta stole the show in this one though, he was great. It was weird to see Tony Soprano... not being Tony Soprano.

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas Terrific movie about the holocaust told through the eyes of 2 children. 1 the son of a Nazi officer and the other a poor kid trapped in a death camp.
The Rocker... Not bad, sorta funny , about a guy who missed out on his big break and now tries to recapture it...It has that doofy guy with the glasses from The Office

watched Street Kings on HBO the other night and it was a pretty good crime drama despite Keanu Reeves. actually had some pretty good plot twists and oodles of ordnance esp at the beginning.
I would give it a

watched The Express (aka the Ernie Davis story) last night on HBO and thought is was excellent. definate "must see" for either football fans or American history buffs. thought the acting was outstanding.

watched parts of The Express tonight because their were scenes I wanted to revisit. best line in the movie is during the 1960 Syracuse-Texas (which was segregated at the time) Cotton Bowl game for the national championship. Clay Taylor, the Longhorns all-american tackle is chucking racial slurs at Davis on the line of scrimmage. as an aside he says to Syracuse center Maury Youmans, "how in good consence can a good Christian white boy like you play with people?" to which Youmans replys, "I'm Jewish"

it's called "American History". sorry your not interested because as George Santayana wrote, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
btw, my original Clay Taylor-Maury Youmans quote SHOULD have been "how can you call yourself a Christian white man?".... "I,m Jewish" not as I stated in this thread. there is plenty of "N word" from the Texas players during the Cotten Bowl game scenes BUT not in that exchange.
