The Five families
The Five Familes, the drama series will follow the five mafia families of New York- Gambino, Genovese, Lucchese, Bonanno and Colombo.
The storyline will follow "true occurrences that occurred during the Reign of the most notorious crime families in the city."
Including their founding in the United States. It's a long and rich story—the families began operating in the U.S. in 1931 and were largely anonymous until the Valachi hearings in 1963.
Discovery is teaming with the Goodfellas duo of writer Nicolas Pileggi and producer Irwin Winkler to get its button with The Five Families.
