The danish version did not get such good reviews. But it was out right around the time of the Killing so it had something to live up to.

But more interesting in september 2014 , Danmarks Radio will debut its most expensive series ever. It is a mini series about the danish defeat in the 1864 war to the Pressians and Austria/Hungary. Events the ultimately lead to a straight line to the first world war.
The 8 episodes has cost DR a whopping 30 million dollars and they have used thousands of ekstra's for the battles.
