have to disagree........thought the action scenes were way above average, laughed more than few times and there is even a decent love story woven in

one of Cruise's better movies in years...however no one cares, so we may be the only two to see it

I kind of like this new douchey version of Tom Cruise. I think he will have some success acting like this. Sure the vintage Tom Cruise is better but I am glad he has learned recently to just laugh at himself and realize he is tool.

Curious though, I got the perception that he plays a douche in the movie and he is not serious whatsoever. Is that correct?

It was OK. I wouldn't go out of my way to see it. Typical, average movie.

When I read your post, I thought no way is this his best movie in years. Then, I went to IMDB and this is a list of his last 7 movies.

I  liked The Last Samurai, but it was made in 2003. You definitely have a point.  

It was easy.  He is a douche when it comes to acting.

I do want to see Knight and Day, for some reason it looks decent to me, good action and kind of funny....

but with that being said....it looks like one of those movies your girlfriend wants to see that you don't mind sdeeing as well ya know

I agree with your opinion on Valkyrie, thought it was interesting. The history involved locked me in. The Last Samurai was awesome. IMO, Collateral could have been really good,but wasn't.Hollywood comes up with so few original ideas that when they don't nail a movie  like Collateral it drives me nuts.I may have to watch it again, I don't remember too many details. I just remember being disappointed. K and D is a cookie cutter movie, you know exactly what you're getting. A few laughs a few action scenes, questionable storyline, etc..I knew that going in, so I thought it was worth watching.

I saw it about a month ago at some pre-screening thing and I thought it was pretty entertaining flick.

I thought 4 of those 7 movies were good (Knight Day, Valkyrie, Collateral, Last Samurai), and he was good in Tropic Thunder (not so good a movie overall).  Didn't like the other two.  I hate Cruise, but he can be pretty good in movies

"Collateral" ( IMO ) was the best of that list. Easily.

I enjoyed "Samurai".

"Valkyrie" took one of the many assassinations on Hitler and just like most of them as I have read and seen on history type channels, the end result was always anti-climactic. One or two guys in the many plots pussied out and narced on the others. And then it was always just ...."OK, shoot them all along the side of a building."

"War of the Worlds" was mindless entertainment, but showed how far Cruise has fallen.


Didn't see Lions For Lambs or Tropic. Would love to hear feedback.

"Knight and Day" looks like mindless action, very cheesy him and her interaction, and poor attempts at humor 'ala any of Roger Moore James Bond movies.....
I'll have to be mighty bored to even download it when it's ready.

Knight and Day was nothing great. It will kill some time if your bored but to expect anything from this movie is silly.

It is what it is.

And The Last Samurai was a great flick. Might be the best Tom Cruise movie of all time.

I thought it was ok, wasn't the 'thrill ride' and 'one of Tom Cruise's best movies' like the ads say. Probably the best part was the chase scenes, I give it a 5 out of the 10. Can't wait for Inception this weekend though. I will have to find time to go see it around the golf and baseball this weekend.

 - Tropic Thunder  STUNK OVERALL, BUT HE WAS HILARIOUS

I think I've watched that movie 20 times and I still cry at a handful of scenes because I'm laughing so hard.
