I took a look at some of the series thats underway. A mix of limited series, mini series and projects. Obviously some of this will never reach our tv, but a lot will. Looking good.

Blood Brother Event series (fox event/mini series)

Brother against brother, father against son, state against state, no other event in
American history split our nation like the Civil War. BLOOD BROTHERS is based on
the true story of the West Point Class of 1861. As our bitterly divided country
tore itself in two over the issue of slavery, the West Point Brotherhood broke apart.
Best friends, bonded in the intense crucible of the Academy, found themselves on
opposite sides of a conflict that quickly became the bloodiest in U.S. history.
For four violent years, these former comrades fought directly against each other,
even as many of them rose from lowly second lieutenants to field generals.
Throughout the conflict, however, they never lost their love and esteem for each other,
which often resulted in many acts of kindness that stretched across enemy lines.
Some died. Others were broken by the conflict

Billy the Kid (Fox event/mini series)

BILLY THE KID, an event series which explores the origin story of one of the Old West’s
most notorious outlaws. The series is set at a time when America was in its vibrant and
colorful adolescence – from the 1860s slums of New York to the violent and lawless American West
of the 1870s. Yet, despite its historical backdrop, BILLY THE KID is a story with surprising relevancy,
focusing on America’s twin obsession with two seemingly timeless subjects: celebrity and guns.
Born William Henry McCarty, Billy the Kid was said to have killed 21 men – his first at 16
– before his own demise at the age of 21. A true original gangster, Billy the Kid was
the first American celebrated in his own time as an outlaw hero. But the legend ultimately
grew larger than the man himself and proved to be his undoing, as he spent the final years
of his short life in a relentless battle to clear his own name.

Shogun (Fox event/mini series)

Based on the best-selling 1975 novel by James Clavell, SHOGUN opens a window into the
world of a rarely seen feudal Japan. Set in 1600, the story is told from the perspective
of British hero John Blackthorne, a sailor who rises from outsider to samurai,
while being used as a pawn in Japanese leader Toranaga’s struggle to reach the top of the
ruling chain, or Shogun. A classic for the ages, SHOGUN is both a cross-cultural exploration
of Blackthorne’s journey away from the European way of life, and a star-crossed love story,
as he falls for the magnificent samurai, Lady Mariko, the married confidant to Toranaga.

as they flock to the gold rush capital in the untamed Yukon Territory. This man-versus-nature
tale places our heroes in a land full of undiscovered wealth, but ravaged by harsh conditions,
unpredictable weather and desperate, dangerous characters including greedy businessmen,
seductive courtesans and native tribes witnessing the destruction of their people and land
by opportunistic entrepreneurs.

The story will take place in New York and other cities including Chicago as the show explore's
the birth of organized crime in America.
“This time and era of America’s history and heritage is rich with characters and stories that
we could not fully explore in a two-hour film,” Scorsese said of Gangs, for which he earned a
best director Oscar nomination. "A television series allows us the time and creative freedom
to bring this colorful world, and all the implications it had and still does on our society, to life."
