The Godfather Trilogy (1990). it's The Godfather I and II in chronological order with all the "Young Vito" scenes with Di Nero in Godfather II first, original Godfather with Marlon Brando in the middle and the "Michael as Godfather" with Al Pachino from Godfather II to finish. much like Coppola's, Apocalypse Now Redux there is a lot of added out takes from the originals that fill blanks in the story.

the original three Star Wars (1977-1980-1983). the three "prequels" (1999 thru 2005) were OK too BUT the originals three are still my favs
my "gambling or sports trifecta" which I watch IF I need a good laugh of Slap Shot (1977), Let It Ride (1989) and California Split (1974)
Yeah, I think you have to rule out comedies and anything in the last 20 years -- with one notable exception below -- when putting together a list like this.
Pre-1960: Treasure of Sierra Madre, Maltese Falcon, Shane
Post-1960, Clockwork Orange, 2001 Space Odyssey, Apocalypse Now
Post 1990: Forest Gump
Shawshank Redemption
Braveheart
Gladiator
The Patriot
Goodfellas
I had to go top five. Frankly it was hard to narrow it down this much. I didn't even get a chance to touch on any horror films since they are always fun but never great films (well almost never... Rosemary's Baby is great). BOL!
