Being a good TV show is a death sentence

Shows like Deadwood, Arrested Development, Firefly, and Freaks and Geeks get cancelled WAY too early (in some cases they don’t even get a full season) while shows that appeal to the lowest common denominator stay on the air for the better half of a decade.

It really does speak volumes about our society when one of the two smartest and funniest comedies to ever grace network television gets canned after 3 seasons, while a show like two and a half men has been on the air for almost a decade.

To quote the maitre-d’ from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: “I weep for the future.”

well to be fair Deadwood was mostly David Milch wanting to do something new. Then we got John From Cincinnati. I got my eye on you, no I got my eye on you. At least it got Al Bundy a new series. As far as Arrested Development I didn't watch it, but heard it was good. But it just didn't get ratings which happens to a lot of shows. At least you will get a movie for Arrested Development, where the Deadwood movies we were promised will likely never get made.

That is not true about Milch....I have the Blu-Ray for the entire series and in a special features section he said he wanted Deadwood to continue....and seemed genuinely pissed at HBO...they did not want to continue the show.

Jersey Show will have more seasons than Arrested Development. It's a sad world we live in.

What are you waiting for? Do yourself a favor and watch this show. There's never been a better one.

Same can be said for all the stupid cop and medical drama's

House, NCIS, CSI, Law and Order, they are all the same damn show every week. 

Basically, anything that is on CBS probably should have been cancelled three years ago.

Carnivale was great too. They want stupid shows like Entourage  so be can obsess over fame, money, and power. Story means nothing people just worship the dollar bill.

Carnivale was badass and just getting going.

I was a big Brotherhood fan.

Loved Deadwood.

Arrested Development was an instant classic.

 

 

agree with most of the points here except i loved law & order, but won't watch the LA version. why cancel a show only to put the exact same show with the only difference being the city? i will say not all TV has to make you think to be good. 2 1/2 men is a great show for it's type of humor. it's not anything like arrested development, but that dosen't make it a bad show.
