American Gangster

Departed was solid, but a little over celebrated due to Scorcesse's draught. These two movies went in complete opposite directions. And it was based on a true story, which makes it much more interesting, imo.

That would have been pretty cool. I liked him. I thought the best part of the movie was the end where they said his first client was Frank Lucas.

and when he picks him up from prison and tells him he isn't going to let him starve. very compelling and a very good movie.

Loved this movie.

Only reason I liked The Departed more was because I rate movies on body count.

I didn't think it was awesome exactly, but a very good movie, mostly from Denzel's performance.

I agree completely that "The Departed" was a way better story and overall flick, and also an a fantastic ensemble of captivating acting..........

Absolutely loved American Gangster. I think I have a soft spot for movies based on true events. After watching this movie I had to read up on Frank Lucas as I was really intrigued by the story.

Departed was another great flick but this thread is about American Gangster so I'll leave it at that. I agree that We Own the Night could have been better but it is in no way shape or form up to the standards of American Gangster & The Departed.

if you didn't see the alt ending, you really need to.
