If thats the rule than thats the rule...but it seems a bit unfair as homeruns count for 4 and a ground rule double is looked at as a single. I would like the rule to be changed in favor of my bet and for the players stats! Most importantly in favor of my bet! Fuck the players, they make way too much money for playing ball!

Before it was changed, homeruns were counted as singles (if it was a walkoff). I don't remember when the rule was changed. If they were to count it as a ground rule double, how would you count fly balls off the outfiled wall in the same situation? How do you determine if the runner would end up on 2nd or 3rd base? How do you determine if the outfielder would have thrown the batter out at third trying to stretch a double into a triple thereby having to determine how many runs scored to end a game? How do you determine if it would'nt be an inside the park dinger? You can't. The rule the way it is now covers all the situations and avoids controversey.

With all do respect tinfoil....its a ground rule double...two bases awarded to everyone...therefore if a man was on second his run will count. In your other scenario of a fly ball to the outfield, if the outfielder decides to catch the fly ball for a out, the rbi that ends the game would be scored as a sac fly...if the outfielder is not there to field the catch and the ball bounces over the wall...two bases for ground rule! If it stays in the park its a single otherwise anything that gets out of the park should be considered to what were used to seeing...just adds another element to saving the runline for those that need it in the bottom 9 for the home team! Its not that hard. Really there should not be a argument here...mlb should look into changing it!

The Ground Rule Double is intended to resolve a play in which the ball bounces over the outfield rule... it DOES NOT supercede allother rules in baseball. Once the runner from 3rd scored... the game ENDED. In theory there is NO REASON for the batter to continue on to 2nd base since the game has ended. Therefore it's actually a "Ground rule single".
It is much different with a walk off Grand Slam... since when a HR is hit, the batter is ALWAYS permitted to "touch them all" to complete the result of his batted ball. In the case where the batter "fails" to "touch them all" the play will be adjusted as called for in the rulebook.

that blown call at first with the head dive ruined the credibility of the whole game ..it would have been one out with 2 on..but have to hand it to latos ..he pitched one helluva game to see the bullpen blow it
